Just to make sure, I've purchased some mtec drl's, do I also need to get a pair of H1 osram night breakers & a pair of H7 osram night breakers if I want to get that "whitelight" look?

There are out of stock at the moment. Will get them as soon as they are in a stock. Any other links where to buy them from?

yes and yes. H1's being high beam. Just changing the H7's to night breakers is brilliant!  :)

S13GE, thanks for the listing of all standard fit lamps for the 500; I will look into the option of the 8w DRL 'upgrade' as that seems to produce a brighter, clean, white light in daytime use. Interested to know if anyone has upgraded the interior and boot lamps from standard 5w to something brighter, without melting the fittings, or whether there is an aftermarket exchange unit (e.g.LED) that anyone has found? Hmm having read more the MTEC 5w look equally 'white' for less money... Has anyone tried LEDs? There are options on eBay but didn't know if the 500 would accept them without an additional 'bit'... A

LED DRL's tend to be a problem and blow due to the resistance

So our car has factory xenon headlights, will it still have a H1 in the lower housing for main beam. Sorry for all the random questions. ???

Yes - you will still have the standard main beam bulb in the DRL housing which gives you the headlight flash feature.

Abarth xenons are only single function (dipped beam). It's only bi-xenon equipped cars that don't need halogen bulbs for the main beam.

The xenons on my 595 and on my wife's Fiat 500 are bi-xenons and there is an audible clunk when they switch between low and high beam but there is also a halogen 'main beam' bulb in the lower (DRL) housing.  When you use the headlight flash when the headlights are off, it is this bulb which comes on.  Xenon/HID lamps take time to come up to full brightness when switched on so are not much good for flashing, where instant full illumination is required.  I would imagine the same set-up is used on all the 500 variants with xenon lights.

On our VW cars that are bi-xenon, so no halogen bulbs for dipped/main beam the xenon flash much quicker than any halogen lights. It is full instant light with no time need to get full brightness.

Can anyone recommend some error free LED numberplate bulbs? I have some of these in the garage but they throw up an error. They look better though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301983946903?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I couldn't get LED's to work without errors no matter what the bulbs claim. You will need to install a resistor.

These i have on the car - white not yellow.  SIMONI RACING EXTREME ROCKET FESTOON 38mm. Still no problems two years on.  :)
