Anyone who has ever attended the Brooklands Auto Italia event will know that this is the largest of the many gatherings of Italian Cars that takes place in the UK, and interest in the 2020 event, the 35th iteration, has already been building in the Abarth community even before the dates were announced.
I've now had the preliminary event information from Phil Ward, so am opening the proverbial floodgates in promoting it here.
The format will follow that of previous years. Around 1000 Italian cars are expected (the capacity of the site) and these will be parked by marque. There is no Club specific parking. Once the initial marque allocation area is full, cars will be directed by the marshalls to any remaining space. You are advised to arrive early to increase your chances of parking with the other Abarths. Note that Brooklands never opens the gates earlier than the declared opening time (which is 8am), so please do not arrive significant earlier than this.
Historically significant cars can apply for a place in the lunchtime parades and track laps around the adjoining Mercedes-Benz World track. Whilst you might think that your car comes in this category, I have to advise that modern Abarths are very unlikely to be granted a place in this part of the event. But you are almost certainly going to be able to test your car and your skills out on the Test Hill during the afternoon. It is a lot steeper than it looks and the sharp right-hander at the top adds to the challenge!
Details of parking arrangements on site and which entrance to use will be provided in due course, but for now, please reserve the date in your diary if you have not already done so, and consider buying your tickets.
