Auto Finesse Tough Coat - Glass
« on: April 02, 2015, 03:22:41 PM »
This is just a quick review of Tough Coat on glass.

I applied it about 5 months ago now, it just sprays onto a dual foam applicator pad, then you just wipe it over the glass, allow to haze then buff off. You can also layer it for added durability and protection.

Its also on the body work and you can kind of see it sheeting the water off. It helps keep the glass clear of water and stops it getting so dirty.

The door pillars have 2 layers of Revive on, which also really repels water and dirt!

The video speaks for itself!

Think I may have to try this until I get the Nanolex stuff on in July! ;) I assume the windscreen isn't a good idea though Bert?

Yeah its fine for side windows and the rear window if you dont really use the back wiper, but its no good for the windscreen as the wipers can make it smear, although I havent ever seen any smearing on the back!

Its just what AF recommend, so there must be reasoning behind it!

I don't bother putting any protection on the rear wwindw. Don't find it necessary as the wind doesn't blow the water off plus water doesnt really get on my rear window in the rain much. Going to try this today Bert!

Tried the Tough coat on the glass Bertie. Was very impressed with how well it went on and came off! If it gives a nice finish on my car come winter and as durable as it says, will certainly be my go to protectant. Tried the mint rims to and again very very easy to use! Would say it is time consuming though I expect thats down to my own wheels and all the spokes but buffs off so easy!

I have a question regarding the revive though, how do you apply it?

Good to hear :)

Foam applicator pad / wax mate / tyre and trim applicator, just give a nice even coat, leave it for 10-20 minutes to cure then just buff off with a microfibre towel.

It helps to give the plastics a good clean with APC or citrus power and a brush before you apply.

Thanks for the advice Bert, I think that may be where I went wrong in not pre-cleaning it. I found my MF cloth got covered in heavy black stains as I tried to buff it off the rubber seals on the windows. Left them looking a nice matte black finish though  8)
