Abarths at Silverstone Classic: 31 July - 2 August 2020
« on: October 24, 2019, 10:11:57 AM »
Who can get forget the Silverstone Classic 2019? In partnership with Abarth UK, we had a prominent display area right in the middle of the event and we were lucky enough to get a memorable Parade Lap on the Saturday where nearly 50 Abarths were able to show off to the crowds and cameras in recognition of the brand's 70th Anniversary. Despite the rather damp conditions, everyone went home with many good memories and a fair few GB of photos and videos. It will go down as one of the highlights of our busy year.

Tickets for the 2020 Silverstone Classic go on sale on 25th October, and once again, I have registered Abarth Owners Club, which means that we have all the benefits of the Car Club package. That means a 2-for-1 ticket offer, which includes an infield parking pass, allowing you to park your car in a reserved parking and display area right in the middle of the event. I've asked for a Parade Lap, but allocation of these will not be confirmed until next Spring.

Those who have attended the Silverstone Classic in the past will need no convincing that this is one of the very best events of the year. Held over three days, this is the world's largest festival of Historic Racing, and you can expect to see around 25 different grids of cars as varied as Pre-War, Formula 1, BTCC and SuperTouring, Group C, Historic GT Cars from the 50s and 60s as well as 500cc cars, Formula Junior and lots more. All told, more than 1500 cars will take to the track in races which vary from 20 minutes to a full 90 minute "race into the sunset". In addition, there are over 10,000 cars in Car Club displays like ours, and there will be all manner of trade stands, entertainment for the younger attendee, and there are evening concerts on the Friday and Saturday with world-renowned bands usually forming the main act. There's so much to see that one day is far from enough. Saturday is usually the busiest day, but those who attend on the Friday or Sunday will not feel short-changed, and those who come on all three days will still struggle to see everything. It really is that big and busy.

The full range of ticket options are described on Silverstone Classic's web-site, which is where you need to go to purchase them. The best prices are on offer under the terms of the "Super Early Bird", available until 31st Dec, after which they increase in cost a little. There is then an "Early Bird" offer until 31st March, and Club ticket sales will end on 31st May. To get yours, and to register your car for the Abarth infield parking area, you need to go to the event's website at www.silverstoneclassic.com/buycarclubtickets. and when prompted, to use our unique code:  2020CCD043

Until the F1 schedule is confirmed (usually in early December), the dates remain provisional, and they are 31 July to 2 August 2020.

Also, I have asked to remind everyone that the signage that the venue erects, to designate each Club's parking area is not ours to keep. Along with a lot of other Clubs, apparently ours was not in place when the organsiers came round to collect it. We have not been charged for its replacement yet, but we have all been warned that this may happen in the future.

Full 3 days booked and looking forward to my first visit with the AOC!
It's a great event, we've attended every year for the last 10+ years . I recommend stopping over and visiting the live stage for the music events in the evening , its great fun, great atmosphere - ok most of the bands are tribute acts (very good ones) - but who cares when your standing in Silverstone, with your mates, having a few beers - they sound just as good as the originals :)

Looking forward to meeting other AOC members

cheers

Sadly, this event has been cancelled for 2020.

Anyone who has bought tickets will get the opportunity to carry them forward to 2021 or to get a refund. Emails will be sent out from he event organisers in the next few weeks containing the details on this.
