Looking for Abarth buying advice

I went to view a Abarth 500 yesterday running 230bhp i was blown away by its performance. The only thing that put me off buying it was the number of previous owners. I am now looking for advice on buying a car and making it similar in power or finding a nice example aleady done.  Any advice would be great.

In my opinion I wouldn't buy one that to modified I would go for a standard one or one that has just been mapped.
