Returning on Saturday 24th August is the Gloucester Goes Retro Festival. The four main Gate streets will be turned back in time Westgate 1900 -1949, Northgate the 1950s, Eastgate the 1960s and Southgate 1970 to modern day times. The streets will be lined with Historic & Classic Cars & Vehicles and each Gate will be themed with memories of times past with music, fashion, food, businesses, banks, shops and re-enactors all playing their part. Star Wars characters, Army Personnel, Tank & Military Vehicles, Superhero Cosplayers, Buses, Motorbikes, Ladies & Gents in Fashion, Hippies, Rock & Rollers, TV Personalities, Civics & VIPs are all attending. Kings Square will play host to Live bands, Singers with a Dance Arena, whilst Kings Walk plays tribute to our Industrial past with an exhibition from ex employees of Famous Local Manufactures. This is a free event supporting many charities with lots to see and do. !
One of the displays will be of Italian Cars and that is where we come in The setting is splendid, alongside the Victoria Basin in the historic Gloucester Docks, using the Tall Ship entrance on Southgate Street. This is without doubt the best location of all, but we will also be close to the other vehicle display streets and also very near to a wide range of other attractions including the Soldiers Of Gloucester and National Waterways museums, the Outlet shopping centre and the Mariners Church so there will be plenty for everyone to do, including family members and those who want to see something other than cars (!). Display vehicles will need to be in place by 10am and the event will close at 5pm.
