Hello,
Considering having a set of alloy gators fitted to protect the alloy wheels , has anyone any experience of the product / effectiveness etc. .??

They have a reputation for coming off at speed and destroying paintwork (and if you're really unlucky a tyre) around the wheel affected.
Just learn not to bash kerbs would be my advice.

You are correct that they will come of at speed, but that happens after you have seriously kerbed them beforehand.
Alloygators now have TÜV and MIRA  certification as an alloy protector.
