automatic rolls backwards when in gear
« on: May 27, 2019, 12:07:54 PM »
Hi all I'm new to the club but hope you can help. I've just bought a 2016  abarth 595 automatic, but when I'm driving if I stop on a very slight hill the car rolls back, I have to touch the throttle to get the gear box to engage. I phoned the dealer where I bought the car to be told this was correct but I thought all auto's held them self's on a hill ? please let me know

The hill hold function on these cars is crap.
Unless it's a very steep hill the car doesn't think it needs to apply the hold - so what you're experiencing is entirely normal.

It's not an 'automatic'. It is a robotised manual ie when youre stoped the clutch is 'in' ie it will roll. Using the throttle to keep the car still ( instead of the brakes) will wear the clutch very quickly. I find the car WAY better when driving it manually.
