595 Active Stainless Monza Exhaust Flap Sport Button
« on: April 23, 2019, 12:43:35 PM »
Hi All,

I have not found a thread that covers this, probably because it is so new. I have bought a 2018 Stainless Steel Monza exhaust from a Competizione which I want to fit to my 2018 595 145bhp standard car. I understand that the new monza exhausts are active, so the valve opens when the sport button is pressed.

The exhaust will obviously fit on the car, and I could do a valve flap delete by welding it open or something equivalent, but this seems destructive and I would rather retain the function if possible. Does anybody know how this system works? and what parts are required to add this to a standard 145bhp car?

I think it is probably a vacuum tube, but I have no idea where it would connect or if the plumbing / take off is even installed on the standard car.

Any help or tips from someone who has done it before, or has taken one of these systems off and seem the plumbing would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

To be honest a lot of the spider owners wire the valve open as it tends to stick in the closed possision

From what I have read, the new Monza is opened electronically.
I’ve heard that people have welded them open and you get more noise from about 1500rpm where as the exhaust tends to open up/resonate more from about 4000rpm on acceleration. I’m toying with the idea of doing it to my Monza on my Trofeo.

That's the old passive system, not the new active one.

To answer the OPs question, I had a quick look at my late 2018 Turismo this weekend to see if there was any wiring or plumbing for the new active monza but alas there is nothing on the car - so I guess it's a trip to the dealer's parts dept to have a look at the schematics to see what other components would be needed.

Thanks all, I have written to the dealer for a kit list of parts... see what the exploded diagram looks like

Please let me know what they come back with as I'd like to do the same with ours.

I thought the monza on the spider and the 595 both worked in the same way

Is it not operated by vacuum through a solenoid switch?

Hi all, I spoke to Abarth in detail and they looked at the exploded diagrams but it did not show any plumbing connected. I am therefore going to pop down and look at a competizione they have in the showroom and see what is connected to the valve (if anything).

The valve itself looks to take a vacuum line, but if its a pressure thing it may be a one way valve that blows open at a certain pressure? I am completely guessing.

The mystery continues... more updates to follow

Hi All,
New to the forum, not sure if you found a solution to this ?

i`ve recently removed the vacuum line from my Monza active exhaust (Comp 2018) to let it sound the same as it does when it reached approx 3k rpm
the std position for the valve butterfly is in the open position to bypass the muffler section. (when vacuum is not present).
So once the vacuum line is removed the butterfly will be open.

The vacuum line runs from the top of the valve  diaphragm and spring assy to a steel  vacuum line.

If I get chance over the weekend ill get a photo for you , hopefully that helps ??
