Come and celebrate the end of the winter, the imminent arrival of Spring and the start of the Car Show season with this special Abarth Owners Club event on Sunday 17th March .
We will be visiting two venues in the very centre of the country: the British Motor Museum at Gaydon, and the recently opened "Caffeine and Machine", a recently opened establishment that combines a love of good and wholesome food with a passion for cars and motorbikes, making it the ideal place for a Club like ours to meet. They are only a few miles apart, so there will be the chance for a drive on country roads to go from one to the other.
At the Gaydon Motor Museum, we will have our own reserved parking area, and access to the museum at a special reduced Car Club rate of £10 per head. Guided tours are available for those who want all the detail, otherwise you will be free to wander at your leisure among the hundreds of exhibits in the main building as well as the more recently opened Reserve Collection. There's plenty to see. We will gather in the car park to the right as you come down the approach road, from 10am.
The plan for Caffeine and Machine had been that we would adjourn there mid afternoon, for a change of scenery and as a place to grab a bite to eat. And that remains the plan, but the venue told me that they were thinking of dedicating the third Saturday and Sunday to a specific Car Club, so they loved my approach to them. They would like a display of cars across their forecourt all day (in position by 9am, and not to leave until around 5pm) - there's space for 25 cars to park there. So we now have the opportunity to assemble at the Caffeine and Machine, to leave some cars there, and take a subset up to Gaydon - clearly this will require some people to drive and some to be passengers, so the logistics of this may get a bit challenging, but I thought it worth giving it a go.
There's nothing to buy in advance (you will get Gaydon tickets on the day, through me, to get the Car Club rate), but I do need to see who is interested in the event. You can, of course, attend one or both venues, but it would be helpful to know if that is your intent.
