Tyre care / detailing
« on: March 16, 2015, 07:13:31 PM »
Maybe not the first detailing product you may think of but after using a number of different tyre dressings/treatment for my car, I have now found my favourite.

Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel   :)

It's got a lovely waxed showroom finish and is easy to apply. Not only this but you only need a tiny amount to do all 4 tyres. Priced at £10* for 473ml considering you use so little each time; it's good value and my favourite finish with no waiting for it to dry or covering half your alloys in the process, thus wasting the product. It also stands up to its name and lasts better than any other product I've used.

A great budget option is Car Plan's Wet Look tyre shine - spray it on in seconds, you get a nice wet look but it doesn't last as long. £5 for 500ml, and readily available.

My most disappointing product would be Autoglym's Tyre Dressing, as it has a poor method of application where much of the product is wasted and hardly lasts 48 hours. At £7-8 a bottle it's not good value and is my least favourite of the Autoglym product range, which normally I would recommend.

I'm a decent detailer with serious OCD, however there are some guys/girls on here who take it to another level! I hope that you can add some extra hints & tips to this topic.

 ;)

I also love this tyre dressing

I personally find it so easy to use and not a lot of sling if you leave it to dry for a while first

Also lasts for ages

My first tyre shine product I tried was the car plan tyre slick, was average performance wise and expensive as it didn't last very long. Purchased the megs endurance gel going by reviews and it is very Goes a long way, applied properly its mess free and leaves a lovely dark shine. My only complaint is that it isn't as durable as I would hope and seems to lose its shine after a week, sometimes instantly if it rains heavily. I have been researching tyre shine products and have come to the conclusion that these are the best...

Wheel wax extreme black
Black fire tyre gel
Wolf chemical tyre gel

Not tried these but plan to try one of them when the megs runs out

Interesting call Brain, I'll take a look at them.

As I say this is my favourite so far not a definitive conclusion to the best product out there, so some good advice   :)

It seems to have kept that freshly-applied look for a few days longer than anything else I've used before...and it smells like bubble gum sweets!   ;D

The smell is fantastic! Looks like the review section was a good call on my part, going to write a few up soon on a couple of products I used recently!  :)

If anybody has tried others please let us know, the Blackfire tyre gel will likely be my next tyre dressing to try out!

Meguiars is not bad if you can handle the sling but Espuma Rd50 is better as its touch dry once cured.

I've tried auto glym tire dressing and wasn't happy as there was a fair amount of sling for the tires, since then I've changed to Zaino z-16 perfect tyre gloss and the stuffs not too bad. Nice sheen and no sling.  It's more of a thin liquid but I apply to a sponge and apply and let it dry. Not overly glossy but effective.

zaino tyre dressing leaves a nice satin finish :)
no sling as its milky
not keen on applying it though as it dribbles everywhere. I think  i prefer a spray on methoud.

I've been using Britemax Rubber Max, being water based I wasn't sure how it would last, but no sling and only a little product is required at a time. On the plus side you can get some nice beading when washing the car after.
