Turismo or XSR?

Hi everyone,

I am looking to buy an Arbarth and contemplating the Turismo v XSR. There appears to be quite a price difference between the two so wondered what the difference is between them and whether the XSR was worth the additional money?

Also I am curious to know how people find the Abarth has long drives, as I may have to do occasional journeys which are 5 - 7 hours.

I am a bit of a petrol head so find myself being drawn to the XSR.

Hi and welcome to the AOC.  I`ll try to make this short and sweet for you.
The XSR is a 695 Limited Edition car, only 695 Hatchback and 695 Soft tops have been produced. Available in one colour only with plenty of carbon fibre additions.
Only about 120 hatchbacks and about 20 soft tops in the UK. Check out the Abarth wedsite, bottom of the page and look for SPECIAL SERIES.
I have had an XSR from release, had the 180 hp upgrade added to it, used as a daily driver with no problems. I have done a few longer journeys about 3-4 hours, no major issues for me .
Are you looking at new or used ,,?   From a main Dealership..?

I find the Abarth not great on long journeys.

I'd certainly never recommend one with the Sabelt seats if you do long journeys as about 20 mins is about all I can take in them. The standard seats are a LOT more comfortable.

My biggest issue on long journeys is the pretty poor positioning of the pedals - I find my right foot in particular begins to ache after about 20-30 miles on the motorway. As a result I got cruise control added to mine and that makes it a LOT better.
The lack of adjustment of the steering wheel/column is also a bit of a problem but the pedal positioning is my main issue.

If you want an Abarth that's a bit more comfortable on the longer journeys, look for a Punto. There really aren't many around so you might struggle to find one, but I can speak from experience that they are perfectly comfortable on a long trip (London-Nurburgring the car was faultless), and others with the Sabelt seats in theirs have driven all across Europe with no complaints of discomfort. It's odd to hear conflicting reports, although that may be the 500 vs Punto being different rather than something to do with the seats themselves. (Perhaps the Punto has crap standard seats by comparison!)

Rockingham Northampton have got Turismo`s in stock.....new , used and an ex demo i believe
Checked auto trader,  2 on there....no real price guides for the XSR yet, so would suggest haggling for a decent discount, try for £17k

I would recommend an ex demo only a few months old low mileage and a lot cheaper but that's just my opinion .

I currently have an XSR and although I'm currently considering selling, I find it fine on long drives, my girlfriend and I did lands end Cornwall from the midlands twice this year.

I have done Oxford to Edinburgh twice in mine and its not too bad, need a couple of fuel stops which I find is generally about the right time for a stretch/walk around

I think if I remember correctly the drive back I did from St Ives area to the south Midlands was done on a single tank of fuel (I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I did) with gentle "I'm going home *sad face*" driving
