Is it worth chipping my Competizione?
« on: October 02, 2018, 10:07:23 PM »
Hi all.
I am new to this so bare with me.
Is it worth chipping my comp.
It’s 18 months old and still under warranty.
My question is, will it affect the warranty?
Does it make much difference and what chip do you guys and girls recommend?
Do you have to re map the car or are they just bolt on and off.
Any advice ladies and gentlemen would be appreciated.
All the best Carl.

Nobody has chipped cars in about 10-15 years. These days it's all about remapping.

If you want to remap it, the only guy you should talk to is Tony at Tune4Performance in Watford. He will give you the options and go from there.

Remapping can and does effect your cars warranty, it also effects your insurance as the car is modified,
I also understand that having your car serviced can wipe out the remapping. Basically do you need a remap ????

I think by “chipping” we may be talking about the TMC or Bluespark boxes. There are several reviews on the mods pages. From memory of some of the posts, both companies are happy to take calls and offer advice. People seemed to be reporting higher bhp, better low end delivery of the power and were reporting better mpg, so could well be worth it.

There are some that prefer a remap, but as Neil states, would have to be reported to your insurance as it is permanently fitted to the car where the box clips in and out so can be argued is not permanent. There is also the risk of voided warranty with re map and if the dealer updates the engine map at service, you would lose your tailored mapping.

Let us know what you choose and how you get on.
