Best Tar & Glue Remover
« on: March 10, 2015, 03:47:18 PM »
After reading a few forums it had directed me to the conclusion that Autosmart Tardis is the best tar/glue remover around and good value? Is that the case people or are there better options?

Only other one I looked at was Auto Finesse tar remover but hardly cheap for what it is  ???

Just get a nervous feeling although likely only use once a year, I read its quite a strong chemical based tar remover and I fear it might damage my side strips when sprayed over the complete car, left to sit then wiped over... :-\

Dont spray it over your whole car, just spray some onto any tar spots you see, then leave it and wipe off :)

You might not even need it, just depends how much tar and other organic gunk is bonded to your paint!

Thats seems like a plausible solution! :p maby me going all over then wiping the lot down was the lazy option :p

Does the Oblitarate not come in a spray bottle at all bert?

I think it comes included with a spray head, but they ship it with a black bottle top :)

If it doesnt, you can always attach one yourself or just get one included from AF.

Ah right, that's good to know, was putting me off getting it because it looked like it had no spray head!  ;D

I got bilt hamber korrosol as my iron remover, was £1 cheaper for 1 litre of it compared to the 500ml of AF iron out, korrosol is supposed to be really good so seemed the logical choice value wise! Will need to put a wee picture up of my collection of products when i do my first decontamination detail haha!

I am up in Glasgow Whizzer!

WD was my exhaust cleaner before I started using Metal polish, £ for £ I imagine I am cheaper getting a dedicated Tar remover than using WD40 I think.

Thanks very much but I think the stuff my mate gets me from his work is likely a similar product to Tardis, smells of turpentine!

Used it on my brother in laws car and the tar marks were literally running after a min or two, wiped off so easily, just need to watch my side decals on my own car!
