Climate control issues
« on: February 25, 2018, 11:49:24 AM »
Not sure if this has been covered before ,my wife's 500c climate started to blow only cold air ,took it to a local garage who used to be a fiat dealer many moons ago ;diagnosed as a heater control valve issue ,car went in for service and to have the valve changed ,turns out there is flap that controls the hot and cold air mix that is also broken .Fiat will charge you for a complete new heater box plus labour ;which is a big job dash out ,and I have since learnt that the doors have to be removed too to gain access to 2 long bolts that need removing .All in looking at approx £1500 may be more for the job.Did some research on the internet,(don't know what we used to do without the internet 🤣🤣);there is garage down in bishops Waltham near Southampton, called Small car services ,an abarth ,fiat and alfa Romeo specialist, who can did the issue for £160 without removing the dash.Took a trip down yesterday,500 mile round trip ,9 hours driving from me ,but was it worth it ,car now all sorted. The guys name is dean  what an absolute gentleman ,his knowledge about the abarth is fantastic  ,he says the climate issue is one fiat do know about,if anyone else is suffering the same issue ;dont hesitate to get in touch with him ;any way sorry for the long drawn out post but I thought this issue needs highlighting ;and that there is a repair rather than paying extortionate dealer prices;and credit where credits due to dean at small car services ;cheers rich

Unfluckingly bad customer service from Fiat if you ask me. Especially as they know about the issue.

What Jackass decided to make the heater matrix install in such a way that the whole dash has to come out, and both doors removed? You just couldn't make something like this up it's that stupid.

That guy you mention sounds like a gem, and definitely someone worthy of bookmarking.

Does he have a website?

Thanks for the heads up by the way matey.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
