MITCAR, the Midlands Italian Car Event, started out as a regional gathering of Italian cars, organised by the East Midlands section of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club. And whilst they are still the driving force behind this event, it has grown far larger than the team ever imagined, with people bringing all manner of interesting Italian machinery from far flung parts of the country. Unlike most events, which are held in the same place every year, this one moves around. The 2018 venue has just been announced to be at Arbury Hall, near Nuneaton - an interesting venue in its own right, with tours of the house on offer as well as the chance to look at what is likely to be in excess of 400 Italian Cars. Dealer support from Chris Variava - now part of the Stoneacre Group means that there will be some brand new cars on show, as well, and we are promised "one or two surprises" on the day. There are always a series of prizes awarded against categories ranging from "most unusual" to "best presented", "organisers' choice" and "peoples' choice", so it is worth preparing your car well and staying around until mid-afternoon when they are announced.
The event starts at 10am (please do not arrive earlier!), and costs £10 on the gate. Discounted tickets will shortly be available from Mitcar.co.uk
