*Update* Auto Watch Ghost Car Security System.
« on: February 13, 2018, 02:11:28 PM »
Hi.

Anyone had the Auto Watch Ghost installed  in the Midlands area?

Price seems reasonable for the benefits it gives, but wondered what you think about it and it's usage, what are your views on it please?

PS Thinking of having it installed by a guy called "Dal" and his place is called Automotive Solutions and based in Birmingham B421EW and a Tracker at the same time after reading good reviews about him on the mbclub website.

Many thanks.

Hi.

I have contacted Thatcham and they do not have a unit on test as I was told by an installer / approved fitter. Nor do they have any in the pipework.

They have also had no contact with Autowatch.

I did email Autowatch and ask about the Insurance approval side of things and asked if it was going to be going in for approval and insurance discount purposes etc.

But that was two weeks ago. I guess I'm not going to be getting any responses.

Not the best way of encouraging customers to buy your product is it?

Hi, Contact your Insurance Company direct and ask them if they give a discount for fitting a Ghost......Also check what discount you get for fitting a tracker. My understanding is that different discounts apply to different Trackers.  Which one are you thinking of having fitted ?

You need to be aware the Autowatch Ghost is not currently compatible with 595 Abarth's due to the Canbus protocols being different. 500's are ok - this came directly from an installer who fitted one on a friends car.

Hi Both.

Neil - Not too sure what tracker yet, and if I had the ghost I don't know if I would have the tracker too!

StevieJ - That is confusing as the guy in the Midlands area that's mentioned on another forum told me he had a 4 week queue for fitting, but it would be fine for my car?

Very disappointed at the lack of response from Autowatch though, terribly poor customer service if you ignore potential customers emails!

Just going by  what the installer told him. Apparently at the top of the instructions it said "Do not install on 595 Abarth".

Apparently it doesn't agree with the ECU?

I believe it's something to do with the Canbus protocols being different on the newer cars.

Fair point, but, I would much prefer to stop it being driven away in the first place......

Fair point of course, but if they want the car they will take it no matter what is fitted.  Some car are being lifted and then towed away . At least you have a chance of getting the car back with a tracker fitted.   A real shame fingers and hands cant be removed when these B`s get caught.

Its because we are too flucking soft in this country with far too many do-gooders that think people just need more chances etc etc.

Go abroad to certain countries and if you get caught then a hand comes off.

If you’re extremely disciplined & routined and no one else drives your car, booby trap the driver’s seat.

I won’t go into details but it involves something sharp & barbed just inter the seat. Can’t be seen but when body weight goes onto the foam, the perpetrator gets speared.

Even if the get out, you’ve got an epic DNA  sample.
Cheers,

Simon :)

OK booby trap the car and then you get sued because they got hurt! Yes try it and wait for the court case with you at the centre.
