Abarths at Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble: Sun 22nd Apr 2018

Now firmly established not just in the UK motoring events calendar, but also with many Abarth Owners, the next Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble takes place on Sunday 22nd April. Needless to say, I have registered the Club, and discounted tickets are now available.

To obtain them, go to the event's website, http://bicesterheritage.co.uk/whaton/sunday-scramble-drive-it-day/ and click on the ‘Enter Promotional Code’ link towards the top of the ‘Tickets’ block on the booking page and input our club discount code ABARTH418.  The club ticket option will then be visible for them to select and purchase their tickets. One ticket covers the car and driver, if you have any passengers, they will need their own ticket. Please note, club tickets sales close at midnight Sunday 15th April 2018

As over 50 Abarths attended the Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble in January, I perhaps don't need to write much about this event, telling you all about how good it is, but for those who have yet to experience it, well, it is like a Breakfast Club/Cars & Coffee meet, but it lasts longer, with most people staying until early afternoon. In excess of 1000 cars typically attend each event. The April event is always the largest of the year, as it coincides with "Drive It Day", when everyone is encouraged to get their classic and interesting cars on the road. So there will be plenty to see. In addition, you get the chance to look around this historic site -which saw service in WW2  as an RAF Bomber base, and  which is being restored to its former glory. Many of the buildings now house car restoration businesses, and many of these will be open on the day, for you to have a look. The air field is - subject to the weather - also in operation, and the brave can book rides in vintage planes (though be warned, if you book now, you may have to wait til later in the year to get a place, as these are very popular!).

Let's see if we can smash that January attendance total!

Go to BIcester web site and book all your tickets there, just enter the quantity you require and make your payment, then print the tickets .

Booked tickets, apparently there could be some dalliance with spring weather this week which could even last into the weekend! Should be coming along, first run for the picnic hamper. May even give the XSR its first wash!! A

Didn't sort tix out in time for the Club tix (as my Sunday plans just changed so I can attend!) - assume if I buy regular tix I can still join the Club parking?

That's a bold assumption........ and not necessarily valid, I'm afraid.

Our parking area is sized based on the number of tickets sold against the Club code........ I've had at least 6 requests like this one. if the space they've given us is tight (and I don't know at this stage how generous it is - this event does get very busy, so they pack the cars in more tightly than at the other Scrambles), then it could be that there simply won't be room for extra cars. On the other hand, it may be fine!

There is an added challenge. At the gate, you will possibly be directed to general parking and not be able to blag it past the site officials...... again, I don't know how easy you can persuade them to let you through.

By all means, give it a try on Sunday, and see what happens.
