Wingmirror Covers

Any idea on how to get the covers off?
I have removed the glass to gain full access and tried release clips and there either snapping off or not budging

Any ideas?

It would help by starting by telling us what car you own?

Cinquecento, Stilo, Punto, 500, 124, something else?
