ChipEx stonechip kits
« on: September 22, 2017, 08:25:48 PM »
I got a kit from Chip Ex today as I was unhappy at the colour match of the Abarth Red (176a) Fiat paint pen. It was more of a terracotta shade than red. :o

Due to the bad state of our roads these days Rory has picked up a chip already :(

Has anyone tried the Chip Ex system?  They claim accurate colour matching and its a 3 stage process.

I will report back once I have given it a go!

Rory the red 595 Trofeo.  My 3rd Abarth, I must be addicted :)

Well i tried it today and the colour match is definitely better than the Fiat paint stick.  8)

The blending solution is a bit of a faff, but in general its not a bad system.

Thankfully at the moment I don’t have an issue, but can I ask what cost and what is the process?

I've bought a kit - it was £32 for the medium-sized kit (I think) & arrived in a couple of days.  Haven't used it myself yet on my car but other half has used a kit on his Alfa.  It's really good on tiny 'pepper' chips but larger ones need a repeat application.  Better to build up layers over several applications rather than blob it on in one go and make a mess of it.

They are plenty of videos on YouTube that show you how best to do it.
