New Clutch
« on: February 28, 2015, 11:20:53 PM »
Starting to get a little clutch slip in the high gears so going to have to replace it at some point. Question is do I get the standard clutch, or is there a better clutch on the market for the AGP?

doesn't seem much wrong with the original spec, mines on 73000 miles with no issues

Will get in touch with them and see how much it cost. Only just started happening so hopefully got a little time to get things sorted. It's only done 79000 miles, problem is I've only had it a year and no knowing how well the previous owner treated it.

Always the problem with used cars!  :-\

I am lucky that I got in touch with the previous owners of my car and could see they took real good care of it with professional detaling done on it. Sadly the fat AC manager who had it before them certainly didn't look after it! Getting the love it needs now though  ;)

Just got the quote back. £774.29. Ouch  :-\

Yeah so true about used car. I knew it's wasn't going to be 100% when I bought it. Didn't look like it been cared for very well, but got it at a really good price. So I decided to treat it as a rolling restoration project. It's better than what it was but still loads to do.

That seems a bit high for a cluth... I got a new cluth fitted to my Polo way back when for less than £150 if I remember correctly... is this through an official abarth dealership?

I wonder if there is much difference if you just replace the clutch and not the dual mass flywheel. I'm no mechanic but would it make a huge difference?

No it's not at an official Abarth dealer. The garage is a really good place, this is a worst case price.Final price is always cheaper than the quoted price. Thing is it's been there two days now  :-\ But oh well had to be done, was almost undriveable.

You could just replace the clutch and not the flywheel. But you might as well have it changed while they've got it apart, wouldn't add too much to the price and it comes as a kit. The other problem is it depends how worn your clutch is, if the clutch is too worn it can start to case damage to the fly wheel.

My car has a gear box rebuild done in 2013 so I hope that keeps my clutch/gearbox sound through my 2-3 years ownership TOUCHWOOD! Wouldn't like hit with a bill like that!  :o

Yeah that's one of the positive things about it going now. I've only owned the car year and got it on a 4 year loan. So at least I'll be getting the most out of the new clutch.
