Ultimate Quick Wax spray any good?
« on: February 20, 2015, 11:10:32 AM »
Basically I've decided I am going to be doing the following when doing my car

1. Pressure wash to remove most dirt
2. Shampoo and wash down then dry
3. G3 clay mitt with g3 detailer as lube
4. Autoglym SRP

Just need to wax then but was looking at Meguiares Quik Wax spray which is supposed to be good.

Main reason for looking at this is because it will be quicker and I wil most definitely be fed up/nakered by the time i reach this point haha

Youl only need to clay and polish it once maybe twice a year, not every time you wash!

And ive heard good things about it, I cant see it being massively durable though :)

I wont be claying often but will probably polish and wax slightly more often.

Might I suggest Armour all if you are after something that's quick and easy to use. Excellent beading and lasts a while, longest I have left it on my car so far is a month but it's still going strong, expect at least 3 months out it I think.

Another Wax I am looking at is Collinite double coat which has really caught my eye!

You will only need to wax it every 2-3 months to retain the wax coating Gib, polish removes a wax coat so like Bert said, every 6-12 months is all you need polish wise to shine the car... if you keep a nice coat of wax on the paintwork the polished shine will stay protected under the wax for the 6-12 months.

If you're polishing, you will be removing your protection - its best to give it a really good polish and get the paintwork how you want it, then apply a long lasting sealant or wax, and just give it easy maintenance washes to keep it clean.

Also, every time you're polishing you're stripping a very fine layer of the clear coat, so you dont want to do it excessively.

You should look into a spray on sealant, some last up to 8 months :)

Ahhh right ok thanks guys. So basically at the moment I've already got SRP on from just over a week ago so if i give it a wash down and then apply a wax tomorrow it should be good for a few months?

What should i go for then a spray on or a normal wax? Could i not use this g3 detailer spray thinking about it?

Never really liked a sprayer, they aren't usually durable coatings although there are exceptions such as Auto Finesse Tough Coat!

I personally like the look of the tubs of proper wax, the thicker viscosity etc just appeals to me during application as opposed to a cream/watery sealant!

Personally, I would apply the polish again as it wasn't sealed beforehand but it is probaly not necessary, I am just OCD about applying a coat of protection right after the polish  ::)
