Brooklands Auto Italia: Sat 29th April 2017
« on: January 12, 2017, 05:23:25 PM »
For lovers of Italian Cars, this is the Big One.

Established over 30 years ago, the Brooklands Auto Italia event, taking place in 2017 on Saturday 29th April is the largest display of Italian cars in the country. And every year it gets bigger and bigger. In 2016, the site exceeded capacity in the middle of the day, with over 1600 cars on show, with everything from recent Fiat, Alfa and Abarth models, to over 200 Ferraris. a surprisingly large number of Lamborghini Aventador SV, an real rarirites like an Abarth Allemano 2200 Cabriolet, a Vignale 850 Cabrio and a Moretti 850 that was not the one which Phil Ward used to own! It was an amazing day,

Since last year, there have been a number of changes on site, with the Wellington Hangar, which was situated on the old Start/Finish straight, removed for restoration, so the event will have quite a different appearance this year, and it is likely that many groups of cars will find themselves in a different location. Once I have a site map for the day, I will post it, but that will be much closed to the event itself.

What you need to do now is to put the date in your diaries, and declare that you are coming, so I can ask for a large enough space to try to get all the Abarths together. Last year, my request for space for 100 cars out by about 60 cars!! I can't guarantee we will get a contiguous block that is big enough, but if you don't tell me you are coming, then I certainly won't know!

As in previous years, as well as the themed marque displays, there will be a series of lunch-time track demonstrations and the challenging Test Hill will be open during the afternoon. Anyone who has an "interesting" car, is invited to apply for a place in the lunch-time demonstrations and anyone who wants to sign up for the Test Hill (for which there are more places) needs to send an email to the organiser at mail@philwardevents.com  Please note that owners of cars and their passengers selected to run on the track at Mercedes-Benz World will be required to wear crash helmets.

It is possible to buy tickets on the day, but it speeds up entrance if you purchase them in advance, which you can do by going to www.brooklandsmuseum.com .

Adults: £13 advance, £16 on the day
Seniors: £12 advance, £15 on the day
Children: (aged 5-16 inclusive) £6 advance, £7 on the day
Family: £35 advance, £40 on the day

Let's make this the biggest Abarth presence at Brooklands yet!

I've now had the site plan for the event through.

We are in a similar area to where we were last year, but at right angles to the way we parked.

I have asked about ground clearance for those for whom this is limited, as there will be a bit of a ramp to get up and down and I know it troubled a few people last year.

Hi Guys !

I'm new to this !

I just bought an Abarth 595 Turismo 5 days ago and one of my friend said I have to come to this GTG. Sounds loads of fun and definitely looking forward to it.

I just want to know, for us Abarth owner club. Will there be a specific activity like a parade run with all the abarth or are we simply just parked up in the carpark and enjoy Auto Italia as an event?

Thank you all !

Hi Steve, The Abarth Owner's club have  dedicated area, but you need to arrive early to get in. It'll be my 1st Autoitalia at Brooklands.
The gates open at 8.00am but worth getting there earlier. You need to enter via The Campbell Gate enterance off Brooklands Road.
They will admit cars till the site is full, then you need to use the public car park.
As you come into the site you should see the Abarth Owner's club flags. It's in the carpark to the left hand side as you  come  down the ramp. See you then Andrew

This will also be my first time attending the event. I understand that getting to the museum early will help me get a space but is there anything else I need to do to ensure I am able to park in the Abarth area. Do I need to email anyone or can I just turn up? I have already purchased tickets online.

Just turn up. Parking is by marque, until each marque's area fills up, then it goes to an overflow area for all marques.
