Help please
« on: February 17, 2015, 05:24:12 PM »
Would like some advice on starting to detail/car washing..currently I just pressure wash, two buckets, wash and wax mix, then sponge off dirt, then pressure wash again and dry with micro fibre.

I have looked at the guides posted and on auto finesse. I am going to follow them, but which order is everything done...car needs a full decontamination.

Is it wash, dry, wax, Polish?

Thanks

Hey Lloyd.

First off, give your car a good wash, then you want to use an iron fallout remover followed by a tar remover (if you need it).

Once thats done, either use a dedicated clay lube or plenty of shampoo solution, and clay the whole car, including the glass :)

Then just give it a rinse off, and dry the car completely.

After that, polish the car by hand or by DA. If you are using a polishing compound, I suggest using something like CarPro Eraser, to remove and polishing residue and oils. This leaves a perfectly clean paint surface, ready for a wax or sealant.

Then decide on your LSP, and apply a couple of layers (especially wax).

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the replies really appreciate it, couple questions

What is DA, and LSP definitions for?

So it should be as followed,

Wash +iron fallout

Dry then clay

Rinse again + dry

Then polish

Then wax

Thanks

LSP is last step protection - so your wax or sealant :)

DA - Dual action machine or polisher :)

Yeah wash it, then rinse it, then apply your iron fallout remover and leave it for 5-10 minutes, just not in sun light!!

And leave it wet, there is no need to dry it when you clay it, the more lubricity the better :)
