No, iron out removes any iron contaminates, while oblitarate removes organic things like tar, tree sap etc!

Is there not an easy way of cleaning a car any more without having a million products all at around £10 each or more. Would cost a fortune

It all depends on how clean you actually want it - if you want it looking its best with nice gloss and reflections, its best to clay and polish it.

Or you can just wash it and never bother decontaminating it!

But if you are polishing and sealing its logical to have perfectly clean paint before you do!

If you dont;

Your wax or sealant wont adhere as well as it should.
You could end up doing even more damage to your paint when polishing (if theres contaminates)
The paint wont look its best.
You just seal in a load of crap in your paint, which then makes it even harder to remove!

Its my opinion if you're going to do it, do it properly and then its minimal upkeep and effort when it comes to washing your car in the future :)

Ye i see what you mean and do agree. Just costly for cleaning products thats all.

Be a bit of a pain but could you provide me with a list of products that I would definitely need rather than want for a good clean and finish and price if you are aware of it. Gives me a full idea of cost and know how if that makes sense.

Thanks Bertie for advice as always

What are you looking to achieve?

A full decontamination, polish and then LSP to seal it all in?

Do you already have a sealant or wax to use?

To be honest I just want the car to look nice and shiny and to help keep its colour as reds sometimes fade. At the minute I've got red turtle wax but was thinking of buying that banana armour dodo juice wax.

Right,

My advice to you is to decontaminate and clay your paintwork.
Then give it a really good hand polishing (using your SRP).
Then apply a LSP.

Dodo Juice orange crush would be better for you (more suited to red cars)

Or you could go for Auto Finesse Essence - slightly better than Dodo Juice waxes in my opinion, and really easy to apply!

Its also on offer at the moment on clean and shiny, only 35.95 plus we get 10% off!

Then you can just top the wax up every 3/4 months, as well as every time you wash the car with some quick detailer!

Also, out of interest, where abouts are you located? Im considering offering detailing services for people not too far from me!

Ok fair enough. So if o got the following then:

Tar remover                 £8
Decontaminate             £12
Clay mitt                     £15
Super resin polish        £15
Auto finesse essence    £35
Quick detailer              ???

Bit of an expensive do probably around £100. I live in Manchester.

Ah other end of the country then!

I thought you had the SRP already? If you don't AF Tripple or Rejuvinate might be better - creates a better layer ready for wax :)

Bertie, How are the Obliterate and Iron Out supposed to be used correctly? Are they put with water or something?

Just straight spray onto your paintwork or wheels :)

Iron out can be left for an age, as long as its not in direct sunlight, and not on a hot panel :) I usually give it 5-10 minutes to really work its stuff.

Oblitarate - just spray it onto the tar spots, leave it for a few minutes then wipe the spots away with clean microfiber towel :)

Yeah you should be fine :)

Id always use an iron remover before claying yes, just makes the claying process safer and easier :)
