Brake upgrade with standard calipers
« on: July 09, 2016, 03:47:12 PM »
As title says really. I've got a 595 turismo which has drilled vented discs. They all need replacing so what's the best options?? Not interested in a cheap and cheerful option but also don't want to spend a fortune on genuine brakes if EBC or Brembo are cheaper and better

Can't go wrong with Brembo/Ferodo. Believe they were used in the Esseesse/180s from the factory.

EBC and yellow or green pads are just as good as the Brembo but slightly cheaper. I have no experience with MTEC discs which are cheaper than both again.  :)

Brembos were used on the SS but they are expensive. $400 per rotor in Australia.

Cheers lads that's a bit more helpful. The confusing thing is tmc list  3 different brembos. Max are £99 for fronts GT sport are £199 for fronts and Brembo Abarth genuine essesses are £399  for front with pads. On a separate note Brian 1612 I think your car looks amazing. Do you get any rubbing with the H&R lowering springs and 12 and 16 mm spacers?? And where did you order your M tec short shifter from??

I have successfully used EBC grooved and drilled discs before on my BMW Mini Cooper S. Great quality and coupled with Yellowstuff pads will give you great brakes.  The Yellowstuff work from cold and are perfect for road use, as they get hotter they bite harder.  Everyone has their favourite manufacturer, having used EBC before I remain happy.  I currently have Yellowstuff on my 595 Competitzione.

Thanks very much mate!

None that I am aware of.  I have bottomed out once going to the Scottish Italian Car Day. Very spirited driving down a steep hill with a convoy of Abarths :D  Apart from that nothing day to day, go over lots of speed bumps etc daily.  Mtech shifter came from another member on here so not much help there, sorry!
