Blank canvas......first time advice
« on: May 31, 2016, 08:16:52 PM »
Picked up my new 595 abarth a few days ago. Not washed or anything yet.
Everything looks so complicated when looking after the cars paintwork. I don't have much time to spend on the car and also the other half won't understand me spending loads.
I'd simply wash it and mer finishing wax it the turtle wax wash it every few weeks. Is that so bad....?????????
😳

Yeah cj.
I've tried looking into making sure I look after it and protect it the best as possible in the time I have. So much advice on here and the Internet which is fab but I'm lucky to get enough time to wash it every two or 3 weeks.
I used the men deep wax stuff on my pun to abarth a few times a year then just cleaned it with the turtle wax wash once a month. I understand basic stuff compared with what most guys n gals use on here tho. I just don't want to make any mistakes with the care being fresh and first time.

If time is short for you with regards to detailing you should look into more recent product innovations. Products like Hydrocoat, Purity X etc can all be applied via snow foam lance to a just washed but still wet car.

Allow to dwell for 30-60s then simply PW off, leaving your full car (wheels, paint, glass) protected for a good few months. A good hand polish once per year with a good coat of wax, followed by the spray sealant application every 1-2 months thereafter should keep your car well protected between yearly polishes.

Personally for me nothing beats a nice layer of wax, I enjoy the application stage but I am old fashioned and being 25, don't quite have any time restraints due to family etc. Can see how handy these new spray type sealants are for people who don't have hours spare at a time to perform a full detail.
