Abarth Owners Club Newsletter / Magazine
« on: February 04, 2015, 10:56:17 PM »
Would anyone be interested in a regular news letter or magazine from Abarth Owners Club?

It was suggested to me by a friend, and could feature;

Our meets & events
Latest members
Reviews of italian cars / abarths
User submitted photos
Competitions - cleanest car of the month, best looking car, best modification, craziest car etc etc
RELEVANT adverts - tuning companies, parts suppliers etc

Let me know what you all think please!

Ferrari owners get a letter and magazine and its got nice articles.
People write in etc and like letter of the month...
Adverts and links for companies that might be useful
Competitions is a great idea.

This sounds great

Would be cool to have certain meets featured to actually show what they are like, maybe it would encourage more to come along and help AOC grow

I think it would be a brilliant idea. Had something like this when I was with the Vauxhall Owners Club. Got a small magazine every quarter, but this was only available to paying members. Was something like £15 a year.

But for that you got a members welcome pack, which came with you membership card that got you discounts at Vauxhall Parts Department, a key ring and a special square "Vauxhall Owners Club Member" sicker that you placed near your tax disc holder (When we had one  ::) ).

I think in this day and age Newsletters/magazine's are old school, I used to have these through the post monthly/quarterly etc., they incur costs which I don't think in this digital age are worth it.  But in those days it was the only way to contact members, with information, meets, questions. We get all information we need via PC,tablet, smartphone, laptop etc. Everyone who is on this forum will have at least one of these devices.
I get a quarterly magazine from a organisation I am a member of and it goes straight in the recycle bin without opening it.
Yes a regular online magazine with summary of the past month/quarter info may be useful but again we have it here instantly.

I used to be in the Rx-8 owner's club & for a fixed fee we got a metal 'rotary' keyring and semi-regular issues of the club magazine. Still printed back then and much better for reading on the bog! (just feels better!)

It's an interesting idea, but it's also a colossal undertaking - I believe one of the Rexy guys was in publishing so had the skills to do it - even going online only it will still need someone who knows how to do layout properly etc. And also will need reliable contributors. Might need some redundancy in contributions/articles in case real-life causes a last min drop out etc.

It would be a great thing to see, but it does need a heck of a lot of commitment to avoid fizzling out. Good for someone who is training in such an area to hone their skills - can also be part of their coursework etc.

Sounds like a great idea Bertie.
This would be very helpful to newbie Abarth owners like me. I reckon it's the way to go.

Fantastic idea! I would like this, but also like a magazine and not an online one, prefer old school all the way as I always buy my car and airsoft mags from the shop, tried it on the iPad and really didn't like it :(

I still think a magazine. Its nice to have something to keep as such and to receive say in the post.

An online one would be just like looking on the forum.

Sounds saft but it bugs me that my brother gets magazines from volvo....but nothing from abarth which certainly would be an interesting read.
