Best detailing products
« on: February 02, 2015, 10:59:05 AM »
Currently my washing methods and products are as follows:

1. Valet pro Ph snow foam
2. Rinse then snow foam lance with Armour all wash and wax and wash car.
3. If needed apply Armour all wax
4. Glass treated with armour all glass sealant
5. Armour all wheel sealant sprayed on wheels

I am currently only really happy with the Armour all wax although open to other suggestions if as easy to apply as the armour all which is simply a apply with a pad then wipe off.

The glass sealant didn't give me the results I was expecting on the wind screen although works great on the side windows.

The valet pro snow foam again doesn't seem to take enough dirt and grime off and I plan on replacing that with Bilt Hamber Auto Foam when finished.

The armour all wheel sealant does seems to work pretty well, cleaning the alloys is a breeze with this applied to the car but about 8 wheels coverage per can makes it very expensive... looking for a more durable sealant that will last longer and cost less.

Also interested in any other detailing products that might be of use to me as a pre-wash solution before applying the snow foam, a nice tyre cleaner/shine product as well.

Looking forward to the suggestions and also, not crazy expensive products please such as £30+ wax's etc, looking for average priced products (£10-£30) compared to the rest, thank you.  ;)

Seen a few views on the avalance snow foam and came to the conclusion I prefer the Bilt Hamber, is a citrus pre wash worth the extra step during washing and effort/cost? It won't damage my armour all wax coat either will it?

Can't say I've used it. I'm trying to get into the washing a bit more myself but from the looks of things it's 100% worth the time and money!

I think de-greasers/citrus pre washer takes the wax sealant off and it is basically a similar step as snow foaming so I will rule that out as necessary, Snow foam is just safer to use on your sealed paintwork compared to pre-washes which suits me. Just need some input on the rest of the products haha.

Hi Brian :)

Auto Finesse Citrus Power wont strip or degrade any waxes or sealants. I find it really useful - Its the first thing I use when I wash my car. I just spray it onto the lower quarters of the car, and leave it to dwell for about 5 minutes. It breaks down any road grime and more importantly any salt and grit on your car.

Once its sat for a while I then apply my Avalanche snowfoam, let that dwell for another 5 minutes then pressure wash the whole car off.

I find together they remove 90% of the dirt and film on my car, which is really impressive.

A pre wash is perfect in the summer too, as it dissolves bug splatter with ease!

Polished Bliss have AF Citrus Power as their number one pre wash / bug and grime remover, its really worth having :)

Heres a quick video review of it;

Bert, can you use it through your snow foam lance and how much is it roughly? is it definitely worth the extra step before the foam lancing?

Is it ok on wheels, bonnet etc?

It's safe to use on anything you see on your car, also makes a good wheel cleaner on well sealed wheels!

£9.95 for 1 litre, minus 10% discount on clean and shiny!

No you spray it on without diluting it, before you snow foam.

Sorry was a bit of a stupid question... should have watched the video first :-[

Think I may need to try this stuff out. Also Bert or anyone else, what do you know the gtechniq glass sealing kit, apparently seals your glass for 2 years/30k miles which is some mighty impressive claims but watching some videos looks like it really is top quality stuff.

Yes ive heard that gtechniq stuff is amazing!

Ive got their fabric sealant and its so cool, I sprayed it on my shoes and just held them under the tap, the water just falls off!

I applied it to my winter car mats, so they dont get stained :)
