Best Products without going OTT
« on: January 28, 2015, 02:25:27 PM »
Hi All,

What are the best products for a wash and wax for best results? I have noticed that people spend around 5-6 hours using a massive amount of products. But lets be realistic most people don't want to spend so much time and money on washing their cars.

So what is the best method which would take an hour or two and the best products to use? If I'm being honest i more often than not take my car to be hand washed and then apply wax myself when the weather is suitable.

I use auto sol for my exhaust which works a treat and is fairly priced.

Auto Finesse Lather (Shampoo)
Auto Finesse Avalanche (Snow Foam if you use it)
Auto Finesse Citrus Power (Pre Wash, its amazing)

Then a good quick detailer, AF Finale is good as lays down a nice carnuba wax layer :)

Hi mate. In my oppinion i think youl benefit with these basics..

A wash mitt (over a sponge)This reduces swirl marks.
2 buckets - 1 with shampoo...1 with water. (dunk in shampoo...apply over car...rinse dirt into other bucket so you dont drag dirt back onto car).
Clay bar £10 OR a g3 clay mitt .They remove contaminents and prep the paint for a better finish.(only needs to be done twice a year.G3 Clay mitt would be better for you as its alot quicker, where as a clay bar can take alot longer.
Autoglym super resin polish -  Cleans the paint adds the shine and masks in the scratches.
A Wax to protect the shine (carnuba takes a while but protection lasts alot longer).Or a quick spray on wax but durability wont last that long.

Keep a sample of finish kare fk245 in the glove box.Its a quick detailer that you can spray on and add a just waxed look in minutes IF the car is lightly dust.(dont use if cars dirty).

To be honest i think those are basics :)

It really depends what you're looking for?

Firstly, how much do you want to spend? And do you want nice gloss, or just a good durable wax that helps keep the dirt at bay? Or have you considered a sealant thats quick and easy to apply?

To be honest ive just been using a turtle wax for a nice shine and to maintain the colour in my paintwork, with it being red they seem to fade easier than other colours so wanted to preserve it. But also want it to help make it easier for cleans too.

I'm open to options, dont want to spend an arm and a leg but want decent stuff. I suppose an all round type product would do. Plus i like it to look nice when i get to Meets which is difficult as its normally a bit dirty with me driving from Manchester :)

Thanks both of you. Whats the best and well priced Carnuba wax, there seems to be many different versions.

I think for you ,your best going with a dodo juice "panel pot".

Few reasons:
The panel pot is Only £5.95 so dirt cheap
You can do 3-6 cars aprox so it will last you a decent time.
Nice soft wax,
Very easy to buff on and off.
Nice beading and decent protection.

Overall itl last you atleast a year and at a very cost effective too.

I did use autoglym hd wax.Fantastic but it only  came in a big tub, so it lasted forever which is good, but after 3 years i had half left so i sold it once i moved to using sealants.Great wax but costs around £25-35.

Heres a link to the dodo juice.Good wax (y)

Dodo juice is a well known brand in the detailing scene.
It will offer good durability, good beading and so easy to use.:) Its 5.95 with free postage too.(if you go for it go from the ebay one as car cleaning sites charge you for postage)_

Will pop in and suggest the armour all shield wax... brilliant protection, good shine and the easiest of any sealant to apply, lasts around 10 washes or 3 months.
