Today sums up why I got my Abarth
« on: January 30, 2015, 08:10:06 PM »
So I took my car up to my brother in laws garage he works at, very big workshop. As he was driving it in he warned that it might get a bit of interest as it is a rare sight...

He wasn't joking, the whole place was over looking at my car. About 12 of the lads working near by the MOT came over and having a closer look, they loved it and the colour and couldn't believe the power output of a 1.4l engine. Loved the campo grey colour and the sabelt seats... one of the younger guys now wants to buy them for his car instead of type r seats haha.... he wasn't as enthusiastic when i mentioned there around 1.5k haha. But yeah, it sums up why i bought my car, the exclusivity and the buzz it created with them, asking questions etc.  ;D

Ive owned my little a500 for 5 years now and i can honestly say from day 1 til about 3.5 years later i got asked questions..stares...people pointing etc.It went slightly quiete after that.I did get a taxi bloke saying "nice car"at the lights about 6 months ago though.

This is what happens with Abarths............ even now, nearly 6 years since the 500 went on sale, and not far off 7 since the relaunch of the brand, they attract attention that even supercars don't always generate.  I still get it wherever I take mine.

And when you start them up, and people heard the noise, they're wowed all over again.

What Ford, or Vauxhall, or Renault or anything else for that matter, can achieve that?

This is probably the main reason I bought mine, I had never seen one in the flesh until I went to the dealers and wanted a car that was uncommon compared to the likes of Corsa VXRs etc. Such a nice feeling when you see someone looking and appreciating it.  :)

Was funny because I got talking to a guy and he couldn't believe all the kit, esseesse stuff was factory fitted. He thought id put the suspension, brakes/calipers etc all on it myself, he couldn't believe a punto came with as much kit as that, kept saying those discs are what you get on a porsche/bmw m line haha, was really nice to be asking about it, usually i just catch people looking at the badge and wondering what it is!

So nice to hear stories like this!

Glad you're still loving your car so much and so is everyone else :D

I get the odd comment here and there, especially when it starts up at the petrol station (I may blip the throttle just a tiny bit, just for the monza burble and bang ;) )

They are such head tuners!
