In Depth Waxing Guide
« on: January 30, 2015, 05:55:38 PM »
For best results when applying wax, carry out a decontamination on your cars paintwork first.

You Will Need

Your Chosen Wax
Pre Wax Cleaner (For best results)
Clean, soft wax applicators
A microfibre applicator pad
2 plush microfibre towel (1 for wax removal, one for pre wax cleanser removal)
Quick Detailer

Guide

1. Firstly, ensure your car is clean, dry and cool to touch. Its best to carry out a decontamination of your paintwork first and then dry off your car.

2. If you have it, apply your pre wax cleaner to the whole car, working 1 panel at a time. Using light pressure work it into the paintwork in straight lines, and once its been worked in, remove using a microfibre towel.

3. Spritz your wax applicator lightly with some quick detailer, as it helps with wax application and also primes your applicator.

4. Depending on your wax, usually a half turn of your applicator in the wax is enough for half a panel. Work the wax in using little to no pressure, in straight lines or circles, just ensure you get a nice even coverage.

5. Leave your wax to cure (each wax cure time is different, refer to your own wax instructions!) It should haze over. you can test by wiping your finger through it - if you can see your paintwork clearly in the strip, its ready to be removed.  As a general rule of thumb, by the time you have waxed 2 panels, the first one should be ready for removal.

6. Using a plush microfibre towel, fold it to give you 8 usuable sides. Very gently buff off the wax residue. If you find the towel is gripping, you can use some quick detail spray to help aid the removal of the wax.

7. It is advisable to put down 2 layers of wax, especially on your bonnet and lowers of your doors, as this is where it will degrade the most.

8. If layering, leave for 1-2 hours to ensure the first coat has completely flashed.
