Fuel Cap
« on: January 29, 2015, 02:54:37 PM »
Hi everyone!

Since having my A500C I have struggled with the fuel cap, I just find it so fiddly to secure after filling up and as I seem to be visiting the fuel station every week its starting to annoy me!! I was wondering if I changed it to the Abarth Aluminium one will it be less of a fiddle? Looking at the pictures of them there doesn't appear to be a slot for the key so does this mean its not security locked?

Just thought I'd ask before ordering one.

Thanks everyone!

Hi ZigZog

On my mums old fiat 500 I hated that fuel cap. It's a bloody nightmare to lock and unlock!

I have the aluminium one, yes you're correct it doesn't lock but it's so much easier to open and close! Just twists and clicks shut like any other fuel cap. Also hangs nicely on the little hook so it doesn't scratch your car :)

Thanks Bertie, I will take the plunge!  I had a 500 Lounge a while back too but as I was only filling up once a month it never really annoyed me.

Would anybody know if the fuel tank is smaller on the A500C compared to the A500, I know petrol is a lot cheaper but it surprises me I can only ever get £30 in when filling up from near empty (light on). I get between 35-37 mpg.

Can't comment ZigZog but with petrol prices dropping, I've been finding I run it pretty much to empty and it costs me about £33 standard stuff £38/£39 on the good stuff :) (Standard A500)
