Snow!
« on: January 29, 2015, 08:25:48 AM »
You clean all your car and detail it at the weekend for more snow to hit last night... one drive to work and thats the underside of the car covered in grit/dirty snow....  :'( hope the armour all does it's job, being properly tested now!

How was everyone elses drive into work this morning? hazardous or are you lucky that you live in part of the country that wasn't hit  ::)

Holy crap thats brutal K744NAN!   :-\

On another note my car dealt with it fairly easy, standard Pirelli P Zero's and although my estate was very bad and I had to drive out of there slowly once out it was my usual drive, slightly slower but the car never slid or lost grip once so pleased with that  :)

Was considering these alloys and winter wheels for next year Will, what do you think, will they do? Really like the style of the alloys as well, only downside is they are 17s instead of my SS 18s.

Definitely a line somewhere across the country, below which, if Chateau Colin, which is where I am working from today, is anything to go by, it almost feels like a spring day.

Fine this morning but it started to sleet/snow in the last hour or so.My abarth is all tucked up in the garage :).

Guys dont forget to pressure wash off the crap from the gritt underneath your cars as soon as possible. So before your drive home maby stop off at the nearest jet wash and spray off as much crap as possible from underneath.Arches...exhausts etc.

Probably a silly question, but why's it so important?

Not a silly  question at all mate.

Basically...your car underneath is not protected/galavanised like the cars body work.
Gritt is basically salt that attacks the underneath and in the long run your car underneath will develop rust.
Gritt and water attacks the body underneath, suspension springs and exhausts.

My original exhaust was on the car for 4 years and even though its mild steel it looks still in really good condition when i replaced it with the monza. The m.o.t chap said it still had plenty of life in it.

I have seen similiar age cars to mine with rotted exhausts.

Best advise is dont use in snow or around gritted areas so itl prolong the cars life :) ...if you need to then a simple pressure wash off will remove most of the bad gritt(not all though as you wont be able to get into the nooks and crannys) but atleast most is off :).

Great reply from Salvos :) As the inevitable chinese proverb has it 'A man who doesn't know the answer and asks a question may feel a fool for five minutes; the man who does not ask a question remains a fool forever'.  There really is no such thing as a silly question and I keep asking ;D
