« on: November 07, 2015, 08:46:23 PM »
Bought our Abarth but have noticed a few things so would like to know what should have been done for the 18k.
Will check spark plugs tomorrow.

Mine done about 2k miles ago. I think it's oil, air and pollen filters, oil change, spark plugs. Brake fluid at 2 years irrespective of mileage. Manual/service book will tell you.  Sure it's all on here if you haven't got books. Depending on your views and guarantee issues, heartily recommend finding a reputable 'independent' as main dealers, not suprisingly, charge rather a lot to cover their considerable 'overheads'! Just had new front discs/pads - main dealer wanted upwards of £400! My 'independent' did a great job at £184 inc vat etc.  They or I still not sure why needed since my A500 only just done 20k - still, I don't mind spending on tyres and/or brakes since they tend to be pretty vital when the nasty stull hits the whirly thing!

well mine was bought from a main dealer so not happy by having so many things missed.
need to go through exactly what was / wasn't done so I can make a proper complaint. We had a new tyre , rear pads, oil change and that's about it so not a happy chappy :-\

I tend to use an independent specialist although my local main dealer (Desira Norwich) has done some work on mine including a recall for minor rectification of a cable routing issue under the steering wheel which apparently had the possibility of causing complete light failure all of a sudden.  They have always been very efficient. Might be worth checking if yours is subject to that recall or had it done before you got it.  From various posts on here, it's obvious that standards vary enormously between dealerships and it's just lucky if one near you is any good or, indeed, whether you are lucky enough to have an independent specialist within striking distance.  I have also read, I think, that Abarth/dealers have recently changed the recommended oil and service intervals (made them longer) but I am going to stick at 9k for oil and filter changes.  Tyres and pads are, of course, 'as required' items and slightly odd that they only recommended one tyre changed - unless one had cuts in it or something, they usually tend to wear in pairs unless maybe yours were odd ones when you got it?  Anyway, hope you sort things out with your dealer to your satisfaction.  You can always show them your handbook that details what they should be doing or find the relevant section on the service details on this site and print it out.  If you want advice about independents where you are just ask on here, saying whereabouts you are, and I am sure you will get replies.

Just had a reply from the dealers.
They apologised for not changing the brake fluid so have offered to do it .
The car is 2 1/2 years old so is due a change.
They stated that the air filter needs changing every 36k so have answered back that it's 18k.
Also asked about the pollen filter and spark plugs if they have been changed .
Will check the spark plugs before I take it back.
Feel totally let down by a dealer who as put of the sale of the car agreed to get the car serviced.
They only changed one tyre as the wheels had been swapped from front to back hence one of the original tyres was low on tread. I was going to continue to get the car serviced there but this has really cheesed me off.
Might take the matter further yet as well. Also had a Facebook message saying that the car was being driven badly when it went back but the dealer hasn't answered back on that yet

Picked the car up on Saturday but have now noticed a dent in the rear bumper . For F..CKS sake.
Another bloody problem.
Took it back to them and they denied it obviously.
Took it to their body shop for a quote and he said he wouldn't bother fixing it . Bloody cheek.
Its just above the rear towing eye cover on the painted part and is in the shape of an upside L with the long bit furthest away from the corner.
Anyway he said it would need to be filled so I said if its hit again the filler will fall out , he agreed , well I don't want a little knock to pop out the filler and what about if we get any sun the heat from that popping out the filler.
We are now in discussion with the dealer.

Call me broken record, but main dealers are filth! They quoted me £280 for the 2nd service on my daughters 1.2 pop, local trusted garage did it with genuine parts for £98. How can these scum justify that kind of difference? Needless to say they will not be getting a single penny from me ever again, the local chap will be doing all future work on all the cars in my house. (Shameless plug) but Spantec ltd in South Woodham Ferrers, near Chelmsford in case anyone is local.
