Well.. my new car is nearing 80000 miles and I got a bit of clutch slip accelerating onto the A1 this week
first thoughts, better price a clutch, 240 quid for a new Abarth part, 200 for a recon unit, plus fitting.
Local garage , £250 to fit, if I provide the parts, including fitting flywheel which I might need
Abarth dealer £476 to fit new clutch including parts
at first sight it seems like a close call but then the Abarth parts department says you will probably need a release bearing as well and that's £267 for the part
local garage agrees and says you probably need flywheel {£348 at Abarth}, clutch and bearing
..soooo, yes you can just change the clutch but if you need a bearing or flywheel anytime soon you'll be taking it all apart again at 200 quid a shot plus parts
summary, approaching £1100 for all of this at Abarth, with 1 year parts warranty but e bay throws up an aftermarket clutch kit containing 2 part clutch, bearing and flywheel for £354 with 5 year warranty, local garage says its all he ever fits and speaks well of them
so i.m going aftermarket with my local guy and saving £614
i'll report back on how it goes
