Punto Esseesse springs
« on: January 25, 2015, 11:24:30 PM »
I have a brand new set of red, Brembo lowering springs as used in the Grande Punto and Punto EVO Esseesse kits.

These will fit both Grande, EVO and Supersport with a ~15mm drop.

Will deliver within a reasonable distance of TN10 or I can bring with me to Ace Cafe in February.

These aren't the same springs as the Assetto Koni Brembo springs are they?

Ah, good question and no, you're not a pain in the a*s! :)

I just bought an EVO (non-Koni) Esseesse Kit to keep the wheels and brakes.

The Supersport suspension is actually the same as a normal 165 EVO - I didn't realise until quite recently when comparing part numbers.
The Esseesse springs will drop a 165 EVO and Supersport by 15-20mm using the Supersport shocks.  This will give you exactly the same suspension set up as a Grande Punto Esseesse.

The Koni FSD shocks add a few mm extra as the spring perch is lower on the body, but only fractionally.

Thanks Will, Ok i understand now :), well ive made an enquiry for the full kit yesterday including fitting so once they get back to me (which im hoping will be today) i will see what they can do for me, depending on what they come back with i'll probably buy these off you next week once ive been payed as long as they are exactly the same as the Assetto Springs :).

I'll let you know what the garage tell me. Did you tell AXA about your suspension?

That's cool, I'm sure I'll still have them :)

As for AXA - yep, all declared.  Told them that they are an official dealer fit option, which they were happy with :)

Also just realised that the Esseesse Koni Kit is exactly the same as the Assetto Koni Kit. According to http://www.plattsabarth.co.uk/accessories.html

Right, so this is a little confusing so here we go :)

The following cars have 'Standard' suspension with a normal ride height:
Abarth Punto EVO 165
Abarth Punto Supersport

The following cars all have the lower 'Esseesse' ride height:
Abarth Punto EVO Esseesse (non-Koni)
Abarth Punto EVO Esseesse (Koni)
Abarth Punto Scorpione
Any Abarth Punto with the Assetto Koni kit

The last three above will have a very slightly lower ride height as they have the Koni FSD shocks, which have a slightly lower spring perch. But it won't be more than an extra 5mm

Didn't realise that Punto Evo Esseesse's had Koni & non-Koni versions. I presumed they were all the same :). Thanks for clearing that up :).

The only thing left which im curious about then is that the Esseesse Koni version says Special Chassis Springs and Assetto Koni is Brembo Springs.

Are they all brembo springs on Esseesse then. All very confusing.

You do a great job though Will knowing all this information!

They are all Brembo springs :)

The Esseesse is actually a bit of a Brembo t*rt, the following are all made by Brembo;
  • Brake callipers
  • Brake pads
  • Suspension springs
  • Wheels

Rumour has it that the floating brake discs are made on license by Brembo but I've yet to confirm that
