What's a Bilb? I don't have one of these, is this a new accessory I should be ordering? I don't want to miss out on one of these if everyone else is getting them.

(Sorry, I just thought it was really funny, not taking the p$%", I know it was a typo, just couldn't resist.)

Hi All.

Nothing was done suspension wise as far as I am aware, however, since getting the car back from the dealers there is a kind of rattling noise from somewhere on the left hand side of the car.

I'm sure it's the left because with the windows open I can hear it reflected off walls on the left but not the right.

Maybe part of the exhaust bracket or something else that they maybe forgot to do / tighten up.

Maybe this is related to the gearbox and clutch change.

Either way it's going back into the Monday morning.

Thanks for the suggestions though all the same guy's.

Hi Gang.

When you get in the car and start and put the headlights on normally they perform the test sequence and the headlights go down then up again.

This is quite noticeable as they go down then up quite a few feet with the bean throw.

However, the other day I noticed that when driving home from work in the dark the headlight beam throw was terrible, it looked as though the beam top was only about ten feet in front of the car!

I tested this in my garage and noticed that it only goes down then up again a tiny amount when switching them on.

Any ideas on what's happened here guy's?

I haven't done or changed anything except had a full gearbox replacement along with a whole new clutch all completed at the dealers.

When I picked the car up I had to re-set the instrument panel stuff such as date and time etc, they must have disconnected or removed the battery whilst replacing the above items.

I'm not trying to blame the dealers in any way at all, maybe it is coincidental!

The dealers who are fantastic by the way, told me to bring it back in and that it probably just needs re-setting?

Anyone ever had this or know anything about it?

Many thanks.

Hi.

Sorry to hear you are still having issues.

Can I make a suggestion before we go any further. Make sure ALL correspondence is via email, this makes it harder for them to fob you off or dismiss any concerns you may have because there is an email correspondence trail if ever anything had to go down the legal route. I do it all the time.

Now then. Let me get this right. They are now saying that precision made gears now need time to bed in and locate properly / stop jumping out of gear?

I'm no mechanic, but when I showed it to my Rolls-Royce Aerospace Engineer cousin, he laughed.

Keep us updated, and use Email from now on. Make up some excuse about it being hard to talk over the phone because of work etc.

Unbelievable.

Ask for the details of their head office, and make them aware you fully intend to write to HO, and the Fiat head office in Italy and asking if their franchise agreement is up to par.

Also make Everyone aware that you intend to put this all over ALL of your social media pages.

Things like this spread like wild fire on the likes of Twitter and Face book.

Lets see what they have to say about that shall we?

Might also be worth mentioning that you intend to speak to Trading Standards too.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric - a great tyre.
Pirelli P Zero Nero -  a god awful tyre

Hi All.

I keep seeing this about the P-Zero that they are a horrible tyre, and it first caught my eye a few months ago when someone else posted here on the forum that he moved away from the Pirelli P Zero and that it was like a suspension upgrade as well as a better tyre.

I have the P Zeros on mine and I haven't tried anything different purely because they were all new on the car when I bought it and I don't do high mileage, but, when they do need changing I am definitely going to move away from them to something better if that is the case.

I like this about forums, you get to hear from others that have experienced the same issues and you are able to benefit from their experience as well as learn how they resolved the issue.

Please do keep us updated.

Maybe something as useful and important as this should be stickey'd

Hi All.

Just an up-date.

If I don't have a USB plugged in then the stereo stays off. But, If I have a USB with my sounds on it plugged in the the stereo starts when I get back in the car again.

Weird or what!

Hi All.

Mine is the original and slightly older system as indicated in this picture http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5192/7185471862_9a3268c664_c.jpg

It's a shame they never put a NVM (Non Volatile Memory - In other words it remembers it's last state, if it was off then it stays Off till you switch it on and vice versa.) on the system like they did with the heating system.

Also, the first thing I did was to replace the factory fitted speakers, there terrible. I popped some really good quality ones in there and it sounds terrific now.

Hi All.

I have got an appointment with the servicing department of the lovely people over at the Research garage in Nuneaton this week for what seems to be the same or very similar thing as the OP.

Mine is varying from difficult to very hard to get into reverse on occasions, especially when it's been sat outside at work all day, and from time to time it has even popped out of reverse.

The forward gears also seem to be difficult to engage until the car gets warmed up. (I know the gearbox and engine are cold, but they should definitely not be that hard to engage.)

I don't think it is supposed to be like this and I am going to ask them to investigate it for me.

Whilst I'm there I'm going to have them check out the stuck open Monza exhaust flap too. I know some on here will think I'm being silly, but I prefer to have it working as it should do, and I enjoy the different sounds it gives when it is working properly too.

Also there seems to be a "ticking" sound from the turbo boost gauge, or at least that's where it sounds like it's coming from. When I accelerate and the gauge starts moving it gives off a sound as though a cable is coming out of a speedo housing, and as soon as I ease off the pedal the ticking noise stops? Weird or what!

Hi all.

So, the heating system seems to remember that it was off, therefore when you come back to the car to go somewhere again it stays off because that's how it was set the last time the car was used, which is really good especially in the nice sunshine and driving with the windows down.

Air con is great, but I also like to drive with the windows down too when at lower speeds.

The problem seems to be with the stereo system. Even if you turn it off and drive with it off all day as soon as you park up then return to the car later it comes on again every time.

I like listening to my 80'0 sounds, but I also like to listen to the Monza too.

I wonder why they didn't make the stereo the same as the heating?

Or have I missed something?

Many thanks.

Looks fantastic.

Loving those rear light units, pitty we can't up-grade to them.

Glad you have resolved the situation.

As others have said, sitting there with it running at that time is a tad rough on other people at that time of the morning, and it is not good for an engine to be idling under no load, best off driving it gingerly until warmed up.

It's nice that you and your neighbour are now talking, I suspect you probably told them you won't be letting it sit there idling any more, which is nice of you.

Life is just far too short to fall out with people.

Hmmmmm. Maybe time for a re-think on this one.

According to Goodyear we should > https://www.goodyear.eu/en_gb/consumer/learn/rotating-your-tires.html

And yet another tyre rep from Pirelli said no if they are the expensive and high quality ones?

So confusing.

Black - Mine used to be noticeable even on the 2.2 I had before. Just because it's a bigger engine it doesn’t mean you don't notice it, it still draws power from the engine to run the compressor and heat exchanger and fans etc.

Flutes. - The info you were given is correct. I have a friend who is an automotive engineer and he has been telling me that for years. It does help the longevity of the seals, but also stops the compressor side from drying up too and helps eliminate any potential odours too.
