Sorry to hear about the theft of your beloved car paid for with your hard earned money.

Personally I don't think the deterrents of the law are strong enough, you need to make them so scarred of what will happen if caught that it stops them from doing it in the first place.

But that coupled with the cut backs in policing make it a thief's wonderland now a days.

I would bring back public floggings and hanging where cases are undeniable and there is video-graphic / photographic evidence to prove the guilt.

The fact that there have been some 30 or so stolen in the west mids means there is a real spree going on organised by someone that needs to be hanged publicly in broad daylight on a Saturday lunchtime in a market square.

But that's just me.

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / *Update* Auto Watch Ghost Car Security System.
« on: February 13, 2018, 02:11:28 PM »
Hi.

Anyone had the Auto Watch Ghost installed  in the Midlands area?

Price seems reasonable for the benefits it gives, but wondered what you think about it and it's usage, what are your views on it please?

PS Thinking of having it installed by a guy called "Dal" and his place is called Automotive Solutions and based in Birmingham B421EW and a Tracker at the same time after reading good reviews about him on the mbclub website.

Many thanks.

Nice.

Why is it on this forum that we have so many pictures either sideways or even upside down?

Nice.

But it's drawing in hot air from a hot engine bay, even more so in the summer.

Why not draw the air in from outside?

Better combustion an far more pops.

Hi.

We don't need to run the cars in now, we used to have to years ago, but not now. A certain amount of this is done in production now and changes in technology have made this a thing of the past.

However, as the others have said, it's not so much about how many miles as such, it's about letting everything get warmed up and well lubricated first.

It's going to do more harm than good if you drive it aggressively from cold rather than wait and let it get warmed up first. That way everything is at temperature and the oil is running round everywhere so it's protecting it better.

Oh, and for the price of the stuff, make sure you have at least two oil and oil filter changes per year. The cooling system would benefit from a change and flush every year or so too, I change the thermostat in mine when I do it too.

I do the same with the plugs as well. Obviously some may say it's silly to do this, but I have been doing this with ALL of my cars starting from my first Mini through to my Stag and Range Rovers too.

In fact I have received compliments from mechanics on how well the engines have been looked after when they have taken the side off for the timing chain or timing belt changes.

I'm the same with the petrol too, I use the good stuff, not the cheap.

It's your car and your money, so it's ultimately up to you, but, I feel that doing things in the way I have described above then you will be taking care of your car which in turn will mean fewer problems in the future and it won't let you down.

I hope this is of some help to you.

Hi All.

I have read through all four pages, but couldn't find anything.

What do you guy's use for cleaning the engine bay and engine? I'm talking about normal cleaning here, not an engine or bay that's never been cleaned with an engine that is greased / oiled up to hell, just a general cleaning recommendation please.

I just purchased some Dodo Juice to give it a try with a 1 to 1 dilution ratio, but, at £8 a 500ml bottle that's not greatest value for money.

I generally tend to cover sensitive areas such as ECU etc with foil so it can be moulded into shape, then use a 2L pressure pump bottle to spray the area and then leave for five mins then agitate with a small brush before finally rinsing it all off with another 2L pumped bottle with just water.

I prefer to do it this way as opposed to a pressure washer for obvious reasons, and the same for a hose pipe, I only want to get enough in there to rinse the cleaning fluid off, not soak the entire area.

PS I did originally post this in the detailing questions area, but got no responses.

General Chat / Windscreen Wiper Base Plastic Cover.
« on: February 17, 2017, 01:20:40 PM »
Hi.

I'm looking to get a replacement drivers side wind screen wiper base plastic clip piece, the whole small clip in cover has come away somehow and I have lost it.

Any info on where to get a new one to clip back on would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi.

I thought the idea was to get fresh and cold air into the system from outside?

Surely you are sucking in warm engine bay hot air with that intake, and especially at lower speeds?

I'm changing mine tomorrow, I'll pop up some pics. The air will be drawn in from outside via the intake tube being put through the vented part of the windscreen shroud, that's where I mounted my air horns too.

I have a faulty boost gauge on a 2015 comp and the dealer is replacing it for me.

They ordered it over two months ago, and still no sigh of it, so I chased it with FIAT UK after getting the dealers permission because I didn't want them to think I was treading on their toes.

FIAT UK are telling me it's going to be at least another two months?

Seriously, I asked, Four Months for this gauge?  Yes, she said.

I am very surprised at this length of time for what I would consider an "Off the shelf part"
