Welcome to the AOC Graham!

Events-wise in the London area, every second Thursday of the month is Italian Night at the Ace Cafe, which is on the North Circular pretty close to Wembley, there's always more than a dozen Abarths that turn up, and a few of the 500 owners have done, well, let's say a little bit of work on their cars...  ;D

You'll get power out of a 500 far easier than those of us with a Punto or 124, there are an awful lot running over 250, and a few running over 300 which is nuts in such a small machine. If you're on Facebook get yourself into the Abarth Owners Club and Abarth Modified groups on there, as that tends to be the best way to find out about events and will be the place to get answers to any and all questions, a lot less people frequent the forums than are on those groups.

Hey Lewis,

If you send an email to David (address is in Colin's post at the top) with your address he should be able to send you the pass. He's just let me know that my pass is on it's way 1st Class and I only emailed him earlier today!

I've just sent an email as well, already got a response so I guess you'll see my Punto there too!

Abarth Grande Punto / Re: Help! Music from iphone in Abarth Grande Punto

Buy a new head unit?  ;D

There's a Blue & Me adapter you can get for iPhones, unfortunately that doesn't help someone like me who doesn't own one, but that's why quite a few owners buy aftermarket head units with CarPlay or Android Auto as it's less hassle than dealing with the Blue & Me system.

Also, welcome to the Owners Club!

Well you can buy pretty much any of the Puntos available at the moment on Auto Trader  ;D

I don't really look too much at cars for sale now I've got mine, but I would say you might be able to get at the newest a 13 plate 595, maybe a high mileage 14 plate, assuming that's what you're after, and going off the fact my '14 Punto was 10 grand.

There's not really any Abarth that isn't decent, although I suppose that does depend on what you are after. You aren't going to get a 695 with that money I would say, but you can probably get any variant of the 595 for sure, and all the Puntos available (Grande and Evo) are going for less than 7 grand, they're obviously a bit bigger, personally have a better driving position and they normally have a little more grunt than a 595. There is also the exclusivity factor, there are less than 1000 Puntos on UK roads, compared to around 10k 595s and 695s. The tradeoff with that is that there is less stuff available to do with the Puntos when it comes to mods, and it is a bit more work too, whereas there are more modded 500s than you can shake a stick at.

Hope you do find a belter of a car, and welcome to the AOC!

Abarth 124 / Re: Puncture.

Tyre weld is always a bad choice, you are quite lucky though not to have had to replace the entire wheel. I was advised with my last car that even though they have a repair kit in the car, just call the AA (or your preferred breakdown cover provider) as they'll fix it for you and it won't cost you the earth compared to going to a dealer. Of course that probably stopped being an option for you as well as soon as the car was in the garage, but for the future, the moment you get a problem show up call them, and make sure you let your son know this too!

Oh balls, never grabbed you Sunday to fill in the forms Colin, I'll PM you.

If anyone could make a quick post in here when they receive their tickets that would be grand, mine is being sent to my parent's place, so I'll need to go there before, and I'd rather not have to drive past Silverstone and back again on the Friday!

Introductions / Re: Abarth car keys
« on: June 21, 2018, 01:41:07 PM »
As jenniferlouise says, that's standard across all brands. Only if you go to high priced cars you might get a spare remote key.

I wouldn't call a Vauxhall Corsa a high priced car...

I think it's a bit random really as to who does and who doesn't give an extra remote key, probably depends on both the price of the key and the price of the vehicle. I bet Vauxhall replacements are pennies compared to other brands, which explains why I got 2.

Hi. I have just managed to book a club package for the Silverstone Classic (only for the Friday I'm afraid) and am really looking forward to meeting everyone on the day. I have only had my car (Vincenzo) for 4 weeks but he is living up to his reputation. For info he is a Circuit Grey 595 (145bhp) with 17" wheels and a few graphics.  If possible and it is happening I would love to take part in the parade lap if not no sweat. BTW Silverstone have extended their deadline for club packages to the end of June if anyone still wants to go.

That's good of them then! Glad someone else has managed to jump on, I'm really hoping there's good numbers coming, when I went for 2015 I never actually noticed the Abarth presence so hopefully now I can be a part of a sizeable group!

Abarth Punto Evo / Re: How many APE owners active on AOC?
« on: June 08, 2018, 10:35:03 AM »
I've had my APE Supersport for a couple of weeks now, 14 plate (the white one with the great big scorpion sticker on the bonnet, to be removed...) and I'm getting stuck into a couple of events over the next 2 months or so. I'll be getting it wrapped at some point, in the style of my sim-racing team! Below is a look at it now, and what I want it to be like eventually, obviously I'll make sure it fits a Punto rather than a Fiesta!

Why not, ticket booked!

General Chat / Re: What do you do?

I'm in the Royal Air Force as an ICT Technician, almost 6 years in now! It's a decent job, and it's paid for a hell of a lot of stuff, trips away etc. My other love outside of actual cars is sim-racing, and I've spent something like £5k on my PC, a rig, seat, steering wheel, pedals, VR and more...  :D
