It's nothing to do with the valve, it's just the car warming up. Once mine's up to temperature I have to work REALLY hard to get a pop on upshifts, whereas if I go for it straight away while it's still cold it'll pop basically every time.

Just to note that running hard when cold is never really a good idea, especially on cars that are closer to tolerances like ours, in your daily runabout crapbox it doesn't really matter because they're designed and built with non-car people in mind, whereas performance-oriented models are a bit more sensitive to that sort of thing.

So put it in a members-only forum.

Except we don't have one. Everything here can be seen just by searching Google.

Why not just post the details on this thread and then everyone can benefit?

because if there's a discount code available on a PUBLIC forum, everyone can get it, which means it stops being an owner's club only discount, so it gets disabled.

Abarth 124 / Re: 124 - Record Monza exhaust issues

That's seems a lot for a second service

The prices for my Corsa before were approx. £200 for the first and third services, with the second service being around £400. I had a service plan so I just paid £20 a month to be covered regardless, but the cash amounts were roughly as stated. The 2nd service is normally classed as the "Major" service by manufacturers, although personally I would say it makes more sense to have the 3rd one as the major service, and include the initial MOT in it too.

Oooh go on then, I don't have any NY plans so a trip to Brooklands again would be great!

Booked in! Will be good to start the year off with everyone!

Introductions / Re: New Abarth Owner and Hoping for some History
« on: November 12, 2018, 11:35:21 AM »
Welcome Fliss!

Always nice to see a car changing hands and the new owner becoming part of the community, compared to some of the other owners clubs out there with the more common brands this place is bloody brilliant. If you haven't already, check out the Abarth Owners Club on Facebook, and if you're that way inclined there are loads of regional groups as well. I bet you'll find information on there a lot easier too, this place gets a lot less traffic than Facebook does.

The car does look very good, you should be in luck with it being well cared for. I personally had issues with mine, the previous owner did a lot of stuff himself, didn't seem to be that skilled, and whilst he was on the AOC (and the Punto Collective, we have a group just for us which helps us out massively  ;D) made a grand total of one post. I'd imagine that even if the previous owner of yours isn't on the Facebook group anymore, someone will recognise the car and may be able to help.

Honestly, jump on Black Circles and look through that, just put in the numbers and it'll show you all the tyres that fit, and then let you pick from any affiliated garage to get them fitted. I got a full set of Dunlop Sport Maxxs for my Punto not long after I got the car (I didn't really want 3 different brands of tyre to stay on the car  ;D) for £350 fitted, pretty good when they were about £95 a tyre elsewhere.

Will be buying the full weekend package as soon as I can afford it! Fingers crossed the 70th Anniversary gets us another track parade for next year, and it goes as well as this year's did!

If you want an Abarth that's a bit more comfortable on the longer journeys, look for a Punto. There really aren't many around so you might struggle to find one, but I can speak from experience that they are perfectly comfortable on a long trip (London-Nurburgring the car was faultless), and others with the Sabelt seats in theirs have driven all across Europe with no complaints of discomfort. It's odd to hear conflicting reports, although that may be the 500 vs Punto being different rather than something to do with the seats themselves. (Perhaps the Punto has crap standard seats by comparison!)

Introductions / Re: Long time but im finally there

Opposite ends of the scale! I'm only 24, apparently I'm actually quite odd in the events circle, most members are 30s/40s/50s, the youngins do all the Modified stuff or the sit in car parks revving and stuff, and the older ones go to the big things like Brooklands, Bicester, Silverstone Classic etc.  ;D

I remember Colin telling me a story once  about a young lad turning up to an event in his 595 and being very surprised to find out he was the only one under 30 there! I'm a fan of it being a more mature group though, you find horror stories from some other owners clubs and you see some cars getting absolutely ruined with fartcans, £10 bodykits off eBay and 4 million degrees of camber etc etc, whereas here it just feels more friendly, sensible and very little willy-waving!

Going between similar cars I can perhaps see why it took a bit longer to "click" with the 124, glad to see that it finally did for you though! I had a big jump from a Corsa that was only fun when cornering because there was never a need to brake, to my Punto which has only failed to make me smile once (And that was the MAP sensor's fault ;D ). It's definitely become my baby, amazing to think that only 6 months ago I didn't even know it existed!

Have you attended any events yet? If not I'd love to see you at one, always nice to look at 124s amongst the normal seas of 595s!

I just had this happen to me yesterday, ordered a new MAP sensor and will be replacing it when it arrives midweek. A productive trip to the shop a handful of miles away I didn't even get halfway through! It did induce a whole lot of panic, as I went to Germany and back the weekend before, and not having had a problem before it was a bit of a worry that perhaps it was a far more serious fault. I do also have a Bluespark fitted, and apart from me being useless before and not noticing a poor connection this is the first actual problem I've had with the car. I think I'll be doing some better waterproofing of the connection to reduce the likelihood of failure in the future.

I'll update in due course.

Just ordered my ticket! Annoyingly I can't refund my ticket for Trax Silverstone which is the same day, but I'd rather travel the shorter distance and not be surrounded by #Stance4Lyfe bros and those sorts of people with their ruined JDM cars, clapped out Corsas etc.  ;D
