Meets & Events / Club meet/karting event in Milton keynes?
« on: August 10, 2017, 07:31:12 PM »
Hi,

I have been looking for a venue for an event for those of us in the Beds/Bucks/Herts/Northants, and hit upon the idea of contacting the Daytona Karting Centre here in Milton Keynes.

They can offer a variety of events up to full use of the kartting track, as shown below:

"Regarding the kart racing, with 30-50 drivers, I would recommend a Team Endurance Race.

Please find attached an event proposal that I have prepared for you, with information and prices on the exclusive race formats that would suit your group, plus recommended extras which may be added, to complete your exciting experience.

We provide all necessary race gear, exclusive use of our renowned 1200m International Circuit, standard trophies for the top 3 teams, individual lap-time printouts for everyone and commemorative photos to capture the moment."

I've attached the brochures to the message so I'd be interested to see what level of interest there is - but obviously there is reasonable cost to run this sort of event.

Let's see what sort of response there is and if worth it I can progress it more

General Chat / Abarths in Beds/Bucks/Northants - local meet?
« on: January 09, 2017, 10:05:06 PM »
Hi all,

It has been suggested on the FB page that we should try and arrange a few more meets, local to our areas, to keep the social side of the club going.

I've offered to see whether there are enough of us in the areas shown in the title to make a local meet a viable option - I know of a couple - Chris Church, Malou - but now sure how many more there are

Let me know if you're in that sort of area, or are willing to travel to somewhere in that area for a local meet

I'm in Milton Keynes

Regards

Graeme

Can you give some details of where you got your tailgate luggage rack from please? You did tell me when we chatted at Brands Hatch but the details have been forgotten...

General Chat / Car park reverb...
« on: May 10, 2016, 10:03:46 PM »
For a change I parked my car in the lower deck of the station car park today, and when I picked the car upthis evening  I set off with the windows down, to the car park exit (essentially I had to go down one side of the car park and back up the other to get to the exit)...but the engine made such a great noise as it reverberated around the car park - with everyone heading to the their cars having a look to see what was making the glorious noise - that I went around again just to share the love

 ;D ;D ;D

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / wheel/tyre rotation
« on: April 30, 2016, 07:42:07 PM »
(yes I know wheels and tyres rotate when you're driving  ::))

Anyway as I live in MK, with all of its roundabouts, I've always been in the habit of switching wheels - front to back, and/or side to side) just to even out the tyre wear a bit.

However, while I was having the wife's Twingo MoT'd this morning I heard the receptionist explain to some gadje that it's not possible to switch the wheels around any more, due to the wheel sensors which would give a false reading if the wheel is not on its original station.

Is that correct? Sounds like bollocks to me, but can anyone confirm?

TIA

Abarth 124 / Abarth 124 engine
« on: December 24, 2015, 03:44:54 PM »
Apparently this car, when done by Abarth, will have the 1.4 T-jet engine from the 595 Competizione, but re-mapped to about 190hp

Dies anyone have any idea what B&M is meant to do?

Mine seems to have a mind of its own - I didn't think you could stream music from a phone with it, but mind does, at random times, but with no music player selected on my phone...and with the radio switched off! it just comes on as and when it feels like it!

WTF?   ???

Your Abarth / Finally...
« on: September 01, 2015, 08:19:36 PM »
I've felt like an impostor for months now as I didn't actually have an Abarth, but now I do - say hello to Scrappy Doo (I read a review that said a 180 Comp was like a puppy straining at the leash, hence the name):

LOL although I'm nearly 60 I still feel like a kid, haven't stopped smiling since I picked him up this afternoon  ;D

General Chat / Car management/expenses app?
« on: August 28, 2015, 09:48:25 PM »
Can anyone recommend a good app to use to record expenses and other stuff for my new car - I have one that I use for my wife's car - "Car Pros" but it's quite American and I have to spend time changing measurements etc

TIA
