General Chat / AforAlfa.
« on: March 28, 2018, 04:46:31 PM »
I see that there's a place in Aylesbury called AforAlfa who work on Abarths. Has anyone used them, and if so what are they like?
Seeing as ProAlfa appear to have gone they may be a handy alternative for me as I live in Oxford.

Meets & Events / ACE Cafe 12th October meet
« on: October 15, 2017, 12:49:02 PM »
As I wasn't ill, and finally retired we made the run up to the Ace. Despite the good weather the turnout was pretty poor. If it hadn't been for the Abarths, the car park would have been deserted!
Her's a few photo's.

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Workshop Manual
« on: September 02, 2015, 10:22:01 PM »
Since I bought Taz in December 2014 I've been looking for a workshop or repair manual. All I have found is the usual Haynes Fiat 500, which is not a problem in itself, but does not cover the Abarth!
All I'm interested in is general work (dash removal, maintenance etc) not pulling the engine down.
Does anybody have any suggestions or recommendations for this old git, please?

Your Abarth / Any excuse for a few pictures
« on: April 26, 2015, 06:51:12 PM »
After asking about spoiler stripe I saw at the last Ace meet. I ordered and fitted some stickers to the dash and the rear spoiler.

Any excuse for a few photos of my little pride and joy!

Are there no Abarth's in the Oxford area? Or am I just unlucky to miss seeing you all?

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Scary on the road?

Apologies if anyone else has posted this. But I just found this link on Abarthisti.

This should be interesting when you try to hoof it out of the corners! The proposed price for a complete car looks good though.

General Chat / Sundays "Top Gear"

I have to say I enjoyed the show this week. Not too fussed for the new Jag. But I'd sell my soul (and the family into slavery for that Eagle GT E type!  ;)
The new MX5 looks good, but I agree with Hammond. Those lights are iffy and I don't think they'll grow on me.
What do you think?  :-\

Questions / Wheel cleaning and protection
« on: March 04, 2015, 01:11:44 PM »
I will be starting to buy cleaning products this month and would like some advice as to what to use for my 10 spoke diamond cuts (and Mary says "on the Skoda as well".
Bilt Hamber or Bilberry for cleaning?
Mint wheels or ArmorAll SHIELD 17500EN Polishing Wax for protection.
If there is a sealant or any other wax which you think is preferable, then please say so. But as I've never used sealant either on paintwork or wheels before I am wondering if the wax might not give a bit more physical cushioning. Especially after reading Brians post about his kerbed titanium wheel!

Thanks

General Chat / How about these beauties?
« on: February 28, 2015, 01:24:13 PM »
A friend of mine was checking out Joe Macari for her favourite Mercedes without any luck. But she did find these Abarths for sale.
How about that 595?

Bless him. Doesn't he know how to charge? Or am I naive?

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Mudflaps
« on: February 12, 2015, 06:45:34 PM »
I'm going to put in an order for some Rallyflaps.  Is it really worth the extra £50 for the more expensive ones. I'm thinking of the logo in red. So either material will cover that.

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Record Modena exhaust
« on: January 31, 2015, 10:15:07 AM »
I've been stuck in hospital for the last week. So I've been browsing around and came across this advert for an Abarth Record Modena exhaust.
I know I'm brand new to Abarth ownership, but I've never heard of these before. What do they sound like compared to the Monza? Or are they just a more expensive twin outlet version of it?
I must admit I'm not sure that they look as nice as the Monza.

Introductions / Hi there from Oxford
« on: January 20, 2015, 09:01:29 PM »
Hello everyone.
I'm a 65 year old Abarth newbie.
I sold my Panther Kallista 2.9i  after having had her built to order. She was the 5th 2.9 off the line and I was the sole owner and driver for 25 years. I got fed up with fighting a losing battle trying to keep her on the road, and sold her in early December 2014. Unfortunately my garage looked too empty, so I went looking for a used Abarth 500. A car I had always admired (both the original and the new style). Unfortunately the car I looked at Lipscombe didn't seem worth the asking price, and my lady and I wound up buying a new A500 in record grey with red mirrors and 10 spoke diamond cut 17" wheels with red rimmed wheel centres. Some Christmas present from She Who Must Be Obeyed! Nothing special to those of you with the higher output models, but we have both fallen in love with Taz, my namesake. I kept my personal plate, 116 NKP,  from the Panther and had Taz registered with it.
For anyone interested. We call her Taz after Tazio Nuvolari, who raced successfully for Abarth, and for Taz the Tasmanian Devil. The pint sized cartoon character who looked innocuous but suddenly switched into a rapid ball of fury that surprises everyone. Just like our cars!
