For Sale / Abarth 695C XSR #035 *SOLD*
« on: August 07, 2018, 10:10:42 PM »
DISCOUNTED PRICE TO AOC MEMBERS ONLY
Many of you will have seen our beautiful XSR at recent Abarth events.  We’ve loved it - still do -  but our head has been turned. Please don’t ask. There is only one XSR currently on AutoTrader, at £18.5k. Our car will be sold with its £1.5k Brembo upgrade, personal ‘XSR’ plate, plus some other additions such as extended graphics and replacement mats. This is a fabulous car and comes with a service stamp, bill of sale and the original sales brochure. If we could afford to run two cars this would be staying. Make me an offer I cannot turn down..... we have been told there are only 15 of these ‘C’ versions currently registered in the UK.  For more pictures and details see our other posts incl https://forum.abarthownersclub.com/index.php?topic=5284.0

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Giannini 350GP **poll your opinion now**
« on: July 27, 2018, 11:03:41 AM »
Morning... I posted a pic within a different thread of a brilliant 500 ‘upgrade’ that I thought would be worth giving its own story.  The Giannini 350GP Anniversario is visually stunning, however I think it’s engineering could surpass its looks.  350hp from 1750cc and 1250kg. Started in 1920 going on to be specialist tuners of Italian cars and Fiat in particular.

Here’s a link to the site https://www.gianniniautomobili.com/350gp?lang=en

Yours for €150,000. Where’s my credit card, life savings, kidneys...

Your Abarth / 695 XSR Yamaha #035
« on: July 09, 2018, 10:36:25 PM »
I’ve been deliberating over how to mark our 695th forum post... makes perfect sense - to me at least - that it should focus on our XSR. Whilst we have followed and contributed to the XSR thread in ‘500, 595 & 695’ I’ve not posted anything dedicated to #035, so here’s our indulgence...

Standard XSR convertible and now running Abarth kit Brembo upgrade calipers, pads and floating 305 discs on the front. Some small details recently added includes some red accents to front and rear bumpers, plus subtle ‘035’ decals on each side representing its limited edition numbering.   A new set of Abarth mats and an alcantara boost gauge cover completes the look inside, oh and the essential fairy lights (long-standing members will know the significance).

Hope you like. If you do, tip us a ‘thank’ 😎 all images captured on iPhone 5 (remember those?)

We have just had a Brembo upgrade fitted by the supplying agent.  In excellent condition, supplied ready to fit with all bolts and hydraulic hoses. £200.00. Prefer for buyer to collect or we can bring them to Abarth Day. All packaged for postage if required at buyers expense; these are heavy so could be expensive.... PM if interested. Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Brembo upgrade to XSR #035
« on: May 15, 2018, 02:16:13 PM »
So here’s the rub... we considered the upgrades to the XSR when we purchased it last June, but decided to show some restraint and enjoy the car for a while. The official kit upgrades can be added within the first year without affecting the warranty. As that first year draws near, the possibility of installing the Brembo kit has been nagging, but it’s not cheap!

At the Bicester Heritage event recently it was put to the vote with AOC Members courtesy of Bertie (name dropping) live Facebook and the feedback was to change. Talking with other Abarth Owners old and new at the same event, it left me with a sense that the itch needed scratching. Cue a call to Research Nuneaton and the very helpful Matt (parts) and Spencer (service) who have made this possible. Value for money? Probably not. More smiles per mile? I’m hoping so.

First impressions are that the car looks so much better. I know the purpose of the brakes are about performance and not aesthetics, but they definitely look more purposeful, especially the red poking out behind the black alloys. Only downside is that the scooter has been sold to release some funds, but then it wasn’t being used anything like enough. I’ll let you know how they perform shortly. Obviously anyone with a Comp, or an existing Brembo upgrade, will simply be shrugging, I hear ‘so what?’, but to us lesser owners this is important stuff.

Always felt the 695XSR should be a car with all the performance options and it felt a little short changed. Italian economies I am sure. So now I’m happy. Next could be a power increase, and a set of front Koni. But not yet. Pockets are empty. My thanks to JL for humouring me; after all, it’s HER car!  My thanks to Research once again. Great team. Now how to get the Abarth crate into the car.... anyone got a bigger boot? A

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Series 4 Infotainment screen 'blank' issues
« on: September 09, 2017, 04:21:26 PM »
Hi all, just wanted to share some detail on a potential 'malfunction' that is actually not. Ok, so I'm making no sense... let me explain. The other day I went out to the car, unlocked it, hopped in, fired it up and on came the music... just nothing on the 7" screen.  Mild panic. Turn off. Restart the car. Same thing. Go to shops cursing quality control. On return to the car, fire it up and hey, the screen display is back!! Note to self to get it checked out by dealer. Just before booking anything posted a Q on the FB site to see if anyone else has experienced this on a new car. Turns out it's a safety feature. The screen blanks out when the cabin temperature becomes too high and comes back when it's cold down. Clever little car.

You'll all be laughing at me. You probably knew this. It's even written in the handbook (like anyone reads these!) however someone may not have known this and sometime in the future this little post will save someone a wasted trip to Abarth.

Meets & Events / Sunday sunshine 9th April 2017
« on: April 08, 2017, 05:20:29 PM »
So we've spent all day today titivating in the garden and have spent a bit of time, whilst reflecting on our Grand National tips, on how to spend what is reportedly expected to be a great day tomorrow... if we win some money in a few minutes time, we are looking for somewhere to go with the 595 in the sunshine. Anyone got plans for a Sunday run out in the east Anglian region? You just know that next weekend (Easter) and the May bank holiday will not be rewarded with such beautiful weather... ice cream anyone? A&J

General Chat / Christmas cheer to AOC Members and followers
« on: December 24, 2016, 09:20:34 AM »
Merry Christmas all. A time for giving and receiving; peace and goodwill to all men (and women). May the light of the Lord be with you. Anyway, whilst you are sitting watching another re-run of a 1986 Only Fools and Horses Christmas Special, how about sharing your Christmas decorations right here for the world - OK a few of us - to share in the delight? The more ridiculous the better.

I'm prepared to start this off... We don't go for the tree in the house and lights on the roof thing, so sorry to disappoint. In fact our grinch look is usually nothing more than a few cards lining the kitchen windowsill. This year, though, we con we have been given a trump Christmas decoration, and you'll be demanding we share where it came from. Can't help there as it was a gift. Anyway, whether you've tinselled your Abarth, lit up your street, fake snowed your whole garden (that would be impressive) or simply put a bauble on Granny's head whilst she slept in the chair, let's see it. No prizes. Just some festive fun. Let's see how ridiculous this can get.

Be safe this Yuletide and love one another. See some of you on the road in 2017. Cheers! A&J

Your Abarth / New purchase
« on: September 01, 2016, 10:06:33 PM »
Alright, so it's not Abarth and it's not even Italian, but we're very excited. This started months, may be even years ago.  At the recent Brands Hatch Italian day Jen got very excited about the collection of Italian scooters, so we've taken the dive into 2 wheels. Well, actually 3!! It's not a Piaggio but it's much cheaper.  Meet our new Yamaha Tricity. Bought and registered today (66) for Jen's Cambridge commute. I'll add some pictures if this post creates enough excitement. Just riding it home from the shop was just the most fun. It's good for 65mph and 120+ mpg. £7 will fill the tank. CBT was just the best day, and now I'm already thinking lessons, test, bigger bike!

Ps ours is red! And sorry Paul, no fairy lights added just yet...

General Chat / Abarth on holiday 😎
« on: June 04, 2016, 06:54:01 PM »
Thought perhaps it might be fun to have a thread to celebrate your Abarth on holiday... A starter for 10 is our 595C docked alongside our cabin in Carnac, Brittany. Simple rules; every post here needs (deserves) a picture. A&J

General Chat / Virgin Money London Marathon 2016
« on: April 01, 2016, 07:39:01 PM »
on Sunday 24th April I am running the Virgin London Marathon in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity.  I'm no runner, never have been, but I feel compelled to help raise some much-needed funds for this great charity and satisfy the curiosity of experiencing the marathon; let's just call it a 'bucket list'.

I, and 50,000 firefighters from across the country, would be extremely grateful if you would sponsor me. Every pound makes a huge difference and will spur me on to completing this daunting challenge.  You can sponsor me to 'Battle the Big Smoke' very simply by visiting

http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/JenniferButler

and you can learn more about the charity I supporting by visiting

www.firefighterscharity.org.uk

Thank you.  Jenniferlouise

Your Abarth / Just looking... No longer!
« on: February 18, 2016, 10:10:06 AM »
Hi All.  This conversation has now moved from 'Introducing'...  Having succumbed to the allure of another Abarth back in November 2015, we are really pleased to announce that the Podium Blue 595C Turismo has arrived!! Won't get plated until 1 March but another two weeks in no time at all.

Pictures of our previous Scorpione Black 595C can be found elsewhere on here.  That little beauty was sold due to a change in job and a requirement to drive something more frugal.  The Renault Twingo that replaced it - in resplendent white with sports graphics pack, body kit and panoramic roof - was a brilliant car, packed with technology, but it never plugged the gap.  So, 12 months later, we're back in an Abarth!

Spec includes black leather, black roof (which is what we're hoping to see when the film comes off), diamond 10 spoke alloys, Xenons, Interscope sound upgrade, grey side stripes (as with others experience of recent blue orders, the grey mirror caps don't materialise), and black brake callipers.

Love the Turismo for its chrome detailing and more relaxed seats (sorry Comp owners) and the look of the large, single exhausts.  The 180BHP was attractive but not enough to swing it. So, see you all out on the roads from March; give us a flash!

Pictures attached.  let us know what you think.  For posterity we've added a shot of 'Carlo' taken at Brooklands and an image of the Twingo (still for sale until 29 Feb if anyone is interested?)  A&J

Showroom / Williams F1
« on: November 21, 2015, 05:08:04 PM »
Ok so the 595C is ordered and looking forward to picking her up in the new year... After having initially declined the offer of a paint protection finish I'm now reconsidering and may now opt for the Williams F1 product. Reports on interweb are favourable and dealership states that one can still add products onto the finished protection to build an even more brilliant shine.

Link is here: http://www.williamscarproducts.com/ceramic-coat.html

Has anyone else used this? Anyone got a story to tell about paint protection?

Introductions / Just looking...
« on: November 08, 2015, 12:48:35 AM »
Hi Bertie and friends; it's been too long. Might be looking at a change of wheels again... I just can't stay out of Abarth showrooms! Anyway, I've been worrying about who's been feeding you all summer. More later. Jen x
