Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Where to buy basic servicing materials?
« on: June 08, 2020, 04:12:14 PM »
Hi guys

Our XSR has just had its 3rd and final dealer included service and 1st MOT.

All is well, but with the mileage we now do (car is 3 years old and has done 12k miles) only 750 in last 12 months, I reckon next year will not require a full service, merely oil, filter and possibly plugs.

I would still like to use Selinia oil and good quality filter and plugs.

Anybody got any recommendations where to buy online? Any advice on other stuff I might need to do (if capable 0f course).

Cheers

Hi all

As cars are sitting stationary for long periods now I thought on to remind all to keep the battery charged and occasionally start the engine.

I deliberately ran down the battery last week believing this conditions the battery better, succeeded in causing an issue or two when I started the engine today.  The warning lights to check the airbags came on but eventually went out, the engine warning light has however remained on. The engine runs fine so I believe it just needs resetting.

Can anybody help here with how to reset this warning?

Cheers and stay safe.

Just checking, has anybody else had an e mail from the forum to advise of a security breach and passwords being compromised?

General Chat / Will the standard 17" 10 spoke alloys fit over Brembo's?
« on: February 13, 2019, 06:29:25 PM »
Hi All

A few years ago we bought some of the standard 17" wheels, 10 spoke diamond rims as spares to use with winter tyres. Am now looking to sell but Abarth have told the prospective buyer that they won't fit over the Brembo's without spacers and longer bolts.

I am sure the chap we bought them from had a Competitzione and therefore had Brembo brakes. Ours was a Turismo.

I have looked back on the classified section and can see Comps being advertised with wheels such asa the 17" petals which was an option for the Turismo.

Does anyone here know one way or the other whether my wheels (10 spoke diamond rims) will fit over the Brembo's because I would not want to mislead a future buyer into thinking they will.

I would add a photo, but tech and me meant that many couldn't view my attachment on the classified section!!!

General Chat / Minor incident to my black wheel
« on: November 20, 2018, 12:55:23 PM »
Hi Guys

I dropped something in my garage today, have a rubber flooring, the item bounced, and homed in like a guided missile to the car, even avoiding a rubbish bin. It came to rest against a wheel leaving a very small scuff / chip.

I have an XSR with Supersport Matt Black wheels. I cannot get the paint code from Abarth.

Does anyone know if it is a standard matt black across all wheel finishes? If not, anyone know the code?

I have ordered a small pot from e bay for £5 and will do a test piece on the back of the wheel first, but would like to ensure a repair is done invisibly.

We've just had a message to have work done on the radio unit. Any one else had this? Can it wait until the scheduled service?

Hi All

Have just found out the above have gone under, we bought our XSR from them and would have been an easy option for us for servicing as was on an alternate route to work.

I suspect we could well be stuck with Arnold Clark just outside Manchester centre now :-[ The last time we ventured there for a service the car we had got scratched as the cram cars together so tightly on the car park. Then it turned out they weren't even qualified by Fiat / Abarth to service Abarths?

Does anyone have any other options for dealer servicing in the North Manchester area?

We did get 3 years servicing included when we bought so we will almost certainly have to go to a main dealer.

It is a shame for the guys at RC, being put out of a job. Highlights the issue we as consumers present to the industry though. We like them to be there so we can test drive and look around new toys etc, then when the decision to buy / lease comes, as one of the guys at work is about to do, go online and find the cheapest package available (almost inevitably an on line PCP deal) and leave the dealer with all the costs but no sale.

When all the dealers are gone, where do we go for test drives, servicing and advice? There has to be a compromise between price and service somewhere.

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Heater temp varying wildly.
« on: November 20, 2016, 02:20:09 PM »
Hi all
We have noticed of late that the in car temperature has been varying quite a lot. Only really noticed it since the on set of cold weather.
I did notice about a month ago there was some fluid dripping out underneath the front bumper, driver side where the washer bottle is. At first I assumed I had been clumsy filling the washer bottle, but then noticed the coolant level was just below the minimum marker.
I filled the coolant up to the max mark, and have checked regularly, it now about 1 to 2 mm below the max marker, though I cannot see any fluid dripping out.
My questions are.
Do others have a temperamental heater?
Do I just put up with it?
Is the issue linked to the fluid loss?
Any simple cures?
Is a 2015 Turismo.
Thanks for your help.
By the way, if any of you mechanically minded guys can offer me any advice on getting my McCulloch leaf blower started I'd very much appreciate it.
Cheers

Hi Guys

Any of you have experience of these things?

How easy / do they get fitted? Are they obtrusive and is it worth doing the backward looking one as well?

Am contemplating this as the standard of driving / thuggery on our trip into Manchester and would like to record matters just in case we get hit.

Cheers

Andy
