Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Blue & Me recognises iPhone but not USB stick
« on: March 14, 2018, 11:30:24 PM »
So I'm back from Canada (been living there for couple of years) and for the short while I'm back, I'm using my Abarth again. My parents have been using while I was away but very little. 4 years old 21k miles.

I've noticed a couple of things, boost gauge is intermittent and doesn't always display boost but maybe a loose connection... boost is working though!

However my main issue is that the USB port works fine with my iPhone but does not with my USB. It's the same stick used before 8gb formatted exFAT or FAT32 both have worked! I've had the car from new and never had an issue with playing music, till now. I don't understand why it doesn't recognise USB stick but it does the iPhone.

I've read a few posts and tried disconnecting battery but still no luck. I can't even do an update of blue & me as USB as is not being recognised. It has worked before but now it suddenly stopped working. I guess system just needs a good reset. Bluetooth functionality is fine also!

Any ideas?

General Chat / Facelift
« on: July 05, 2015, 11:18:46 AM »
Obviously some of you may have read about the 500d facelift which I actually like very subtle and keeping it up to date I.e. LED Daytime running lights

The Abarth will benefit from these changes too eventually.

Questions / Selenia Abarth 10W50 Oil
« on: May 08, 2015, 11:00:26 AM »
I have a 2 litre tin of oil Selenia Anarth 10W50 unopened since 2013 stored in a cool dry place.

Haven't really needed to use it as Abarth doesn't burn oil which is a good thing compared to previous cars I've owned.

I was wondering if the oil has an expiry date? Wanted to take the tin with me to France as a precaution, not that it will need it as the service is a couple of days before the journey.

I've googled in general but I've had mixed reviews. Some saying yes it does and other saying no it doesn't especially if it's been unopened and stored correctly.

Any ideas? Don't really want to spend £25 of there's no need to!

Thanks

Questions / Waterless Wash & Wax
« on: May 07, 2015, 10:42:15 PM »
This is kinda linked with me going down to France. On the odd stops I want to keep the car looking fresh was thinking of getting a waterless wash & wax product.

Any recommendations? I found this on Ultimate Finish:

General Chat / Trip to France - European Travel
« on: April 24, 2015, 09:03:51 PM »
I'm driving to the south of France with the Abarth end of May and theres alot to prepare for.

I'm going to buy the AA Euro Travel Kit which will equp me with everything I legally need.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/AA-Car-Essentials-Euro-Travel/dp/B003FZBGMS/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1429905372&sr=1-2&keywords=aa+travel+kit

The question I have is about the headlamp beam converters "Eurolites" where do they go on the Abarth's headlamps? I have Xenons!

Has anyone done this before and can provide me with any addtional infromation that would be great.

Ive sorted out Euro Tunnel, Travel Insurance, European Breakdown cover and Tolls in France.

General Chat / Bored, so specd a new car for fun
« on: April 20, 2015, 06:41:15 PM »
Im bored at home so decided to have a look at the Abarth website and configure a new car!

Decided to go for 565C Competizione in white and black as per the picutre but with the grey Sabelt seats and MTA gear box.

Id defo up the power to 180BHP with a remap and hoepfully see if I can it close to 200BHP by doing some other upgrades.

Wheels I'd go for these in white http://www.tmcmotorsport.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=248 they look boom!

However this wont be later in the futrue when I decide to change and hopefully there will be a newer version and facelift making it look more modern and maybe a new powerplant that fast and more efficient :D

Guides / Tips and Tricks!
« on: April 12, 2015, 05:02:01 PM »
So here's a tip I found out a few years ago before I knew about detailing. Interior vynal panels over time can be inevitable in getting door scuffs. So after a deep clean you can make them look like new again using shoe polish. A little goes a long way so gradually add and not over do it. Hides any marks etc

Obviously this is not a permanent fix as next time you clean it you'll remove the polish but u can easily re apply.

Cheap easy fix 👍🏼

« on: March 07, 2015, 02:07:07 AM »
Took a day off work and weather was decent so gave Lina a wash and went over with Auto Finesse Tough Coat. Tomorrow (well today) will detail the inside the car and polish windows.

Will give car a good polish nearer the time for London to Brighton run.

Lina is gleaming!!!

Guides / Microfibre Towels

What do your prefer when using microfibre towels?

Buy cheap and in bulk to detail for one use then throw away or buy better quality ones and wash?

My drivers car mat, has kinda worn away slightly and would like to replace. I don't really want to buy a set but if there's a site I can buy a cheap set I don't mind.

Ideally just need the drivers side the 595 version, I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Thanks

General Chat / Abarth Adverts/Reviews/Articles etc.
« on: February 25, 2015, 03:02:47 PM »
Ill start it off with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt00vSUaujQ

When I placed a deposit for my Abarth I had to wait 3 months. While waiting all I did was smoke shisha in the garden and watch YouTube videos on the exhaust notes! The above was one of my favorites especially when he points camera down at the rear of the car as it goes up the hill. This was just the standard exhaust and its sounds orgasmic.

We do have great sounding cars.
