Questions / Hose pipe
« on: May 17, 2016, 10:51:31 PM »
Can anyone recommend a decent hose pipe preferably one that doesn't kink well not too much anyway, about 30 metres in length, don't like the look of those stretchy ones and don't mind if it's dearer than the average hose

As some of you may know my wife and i are Foster Carers and for the last 10 months we have been doing Parent and child assesments, for now i have been borrowing the Mother in Laws S-max if i need to run Mum and Baby about which is 3-4 times a week as i certainly am not trying to fit baby seats and buggys into mine lol, anyway here's the rub my Wife enjoys this line of our work and wants to do this now until we retire in 3-4yrs time so i need to get another car,its basically going to be a workhorse and don't want to spend a fortune.
I've seen online Dacia Logan MCV middle of their range down payment of £1216 then £99pm for 48 months and a final payment of £2500 if you want to keep it,now i know its not going to be a world beater for that price but seems just the ticket for what i need it for anyone here have any experience of Dacia?

« on: March 22, 2016, 04:48:38 PM »
Mine's 3 years old now and had a bit of a transformation in that time, chrome whisker, rear badge, door and boot handles replaced, dash and climate control facia dipped,Double din stereo install, sports cat BTB bypass exhaust, remap,Big brembo kit, some cosmetic bits like battery, coolant covers,Gtech heatshield, polarised wheel bolts, speaker covers, rear lamps
I think i'm just about there ..apart from a short shifter, lowering and maybe a FMIC but that's for later  ;D , i'm pleased with it and get lots of positive comments when i'm out and about,so here's to the next 3 years!  8)

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Leather seat repaired
« on: March 18, 2016, 04:38:21 PM »
After being told that this was wear and tear and not under warranty i sourced a trim restorer to repair it,he was actually only about a mile from my house and i didn't even know he was there!
Dropped the car off this morning and picked it up this afternoon,he's done a cracking job and i'm well pleased,he said it took him about 2hrs to remove the cover from the seat as the headrest trim was a bit of a bugger to remove!

Reviews / Auto Finesse Aqua Deluxe Drying Towel
« on: February 23, 2016, 02:30:24 PM »
I bought an Aqua Deluxe Drying Towel a few weeks back and finally got round to using it today,First thing is there are no photos simply because i assumed this was just another drying towel ..wrong wrong wrong!!
First thing i did once i bought it was put it into the washing machine with some other drying towels, some Woolite washing liquid and did a 30 degree wash and tumble dry as i had read that using it without washing first results in linting
So today after a wash and rinse spraying some demon shine as a rinse aid i placed the towel onto the wet bonnet it just soaked up the water,i placed the towel on each panel and just patted dry it soaked up every drop of water,i never wiped a single panel no need as this towel is amazing and it wasn't even that wet once i had finished it would of easily dried another car,i have the big yellow uber towels, chemical guys woolly mammoth and a waffle towel and as good as they are especially the Uber towel this one wipes the floor with them excuse the pun ;D
I would say if anyones looking for a drying towel look no further as this one is simply the best!

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Replacement leather seat cover
« on: January 07, 2016, 07:44:47 PM »
Anyone know how much a replacement leather seat cover would cost? Mines quite worn took it to dealers who are saying wear and tear
So I'll either have to live with it or replace it or maybe look at a pair of Sabelts, passenger side is perfect so its probably where I get in and out

Questions / Leather scent
« on: November 23, 2015, 11:00:17 PM »
Anyone tried any decent leather scent air fresheners? I usually use AG Autofresh which smells pretty good but its floral rather than leather and I'm missing the smell of leather as I open the door,

Your Abarth / Long time no see
« on: November 03, 2015, 02:53:00 PM »
Hi there again been a while since i last posted, think i just been taking my car for granted and not giving it the love it deserved :-[, i was a gnat's doo dah from chopping it in for an Alfa Romeo Guiletta QV 2 weeks ago finance sorted just had to go in and sign the paperwork ready for it to be ordered, but when push came to a shove i couldn't bear to give the old boy up and rang the dealer to say i had a change of heart lol
So as a way of an apology to my Abarth i treated him to a nice new Pioneer Double din unit and will be getting him Mapped hopefully before January,Anyway not too difficult to fit especially if your neighbour does it for a living and likes a drop of Drambuie, i just have to fit the usb ext to the blue and me module which is in the rear qtr which means taking out rear seat, panel off drill rivets out of said module connect up and re pop rivet it back ::) but thats for another day  ;D some pics

Reviews / Show us your wax and sealants
« on: March 19, 2015, 06:47:52 PM »
So what's everyone using? Here's my selection and views I'm no expert so just my personal opinions ;D
From left to right

Top
Bilt Hamber Autobalm. Synthetic sealant fills minor swirls, used to use this on my white 500 using a damp applicator spreads really well 1 panel at a time then buff off with plush MF towel will also protect chrome and alloys 2-3 coats would see out the winter
Bottom
Finish Kare 1000p
Hi Temp synthetic sealant, I use this for wheel and exhaust protection, damp applicator 2 coats 2-3 hrs apart lasts 3 months plus on mine, also a great body sealant for winter although I haven't used it as such
Next top
Soft 99 Authentic Carnuba wax
Large tin and fantastic value at about £30,comes with an applicator although that's best used for tyres! and a 3 purpose tool in the lid consisting of a brush, pick and opener.apply thinly with a primed applicator leave for 5 mins and buff off leave about 2-3 hrs between coats I usually do 2 coats and 1 more after the next wash,
Leaves a glossy finish with great beading and sheeting protection lasts 3-6 months
Bottom
Soft 99 Fusso Dark
Again large tin even better value at about £20 also comes in light flavour
Synthetic sealant with PTFE,apply with damp applicator spread thinly 1-2 panels at a time leave for 5-10 mins then buff off,2-3 hrs between coats, fusso advise not to wash again for 24hrs, leaves a glossy reflective finish,I did my neighbours black Cooper with 2 coats of this in Oct and it easily lasted until March, says on the tin 12 months protection I don't know about that but easy get 6-7 months,I really like soft 99 products and pound for pound are probably the best I have
Next up
Swissvax Scuderia and Swissvax shield
Scuderia I use in the summer supposedly made for Italian paintwork,I prep using Swissvax cleaner fluid before using the wax, apply thinly I do the whole car before buffing, 2 coats again 2-3 hrs between coats ,wet look finish looks great and lasts through the summer,I bought this second hand  so is it worth the £115 a pot new? I don't think so tbh
Shield.winter Sealant with PTFE easy to apply spread thinly I do 1-2 panels at a time then buff off,I applied 2 coats to mine in Oct plus 1 more after the next wash and was still protecting in March so does what it says but again expensive at £130 a pot,I got this in an exchange for some vintàge razors from my collection but I wouldn't pay for a new pot,Fusso would be a good alternative
Next Bouncers salute the fruit
Hand made wax, smells like a fruit cocktail mmmm, apply with damp applicator less is more leave 2-3 mins buffs off easily and leaves a wet look finish, I'm wearing this now 2 coats over AF tripple looks great good for 3months plus
Waxamomo seductive watermelon
Only used this once it's a show wax lasts about  2-3weeks easy to apply and buff off leaves a glossy wet look finish
Finally
Angelwax Halo and Dark Angel
Halo is a synthetic paste wax can be used on every surface especially good on plastic trim, rubber and glass as well as bodywork spread thinly leave 2-3 mins buff off protects for 6 months, fantastic on my shower cubicle glass too!
Dark Angel my favourite summer wax,has the same pigment as black paint and can mask minor swirls,I apply with a damp applicator to 1panel at a time leave for 2-3 mins and buff off with plush MF leave 2-3 hrs between coats, I do 2 coats and 1 more after next wash, Dark Angel leaves a superb glossy wet look finish especially over a glaze I use prima amigo, beads and sheets brilliantly
Also got a panel pot of Black Magic Detail Sirius but haven't used it yet
Well there's my reviews I'm no expert but hopefully somebody might find them useful ;D

Showroom / Neighbours Mini Cooper
« on: March 18, 2015, 06:39:13 PM »
Over the weekend my Neighbour was admiring my car while bemoaning the state of hers so as a good Neighbour I offered to give it a quick detail.
Started off with a nice coat of AF Citrus power and sprayed the wheels with Autosmart smart wheels, then rinsed off and washed using Angelwax Shampoo rinsed again and washed with G3 clay mitt rinsed and dried.
Polished using AF Tripple then 1 coat of Soft99 fusso dark sealant followed by 2 coats of Soft99 authentic wax, plastic trim and tyres coated with Autosmart Highstyle while interior vacuumed with Autoglym interior shampoo, interior plastics with Autosmart Finish, glass done with AF Crystal the finished with AF Finale
She was well pleased but I think the other neighbours are getting envious  :'(wondering if I've let myself into something here ;D
As nice as it looks there's no way on gods earth I would swap mine for a mini

Autoglym autofresh to make it smell nice !

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Buying tyres from the interweb
« on: March 08, 2015, 02:56:48 PM »
So I'm waiting for my Essesse wheels to arrive from Italy and looking at tyres to fit on them, found what I want online and at a great price with free delivery, now the problem ..I called at my local tyre fitters and asked about fitting the tyres to the rims, "we don't do that mate unless you buy the tyres through us" when he priced up the same tyres they worked out at £35 a tyre dearer! So I declined his offer  ;D
Going to give kwik fit a call in the morning, has anyone here purchased tyres online and had them fitted locally and if so how much roughly to fit per tyre? Don't want to buy 4 tyres online then be stumped for someone to fit them  ::)
