Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / 1 day old... Rusted exhaust hanger!
« on: June 13, 2016, 07:59:12 PM »
Hi all, I am looking to protect my exhaust from corrosion so was going to conolite the 4 ends, then looked underneath and saw the exhaust hanger was completely rusted orange!

Can anyone advise how I can prolong my exhausts beauty and integrity? I was thinking of hammerite on the exhaust hanger....

Adrian Flux Insurance / Shop around!
« on: June 08, 2016, 12:57:50 PM »
Hi all, as we are collecting our Abarth this Sunday, my wife and I decided to get our insurance sorted.  She is moving from a Skoda Yeti with me as the 2nd driver (I have a bad history for car accidents).  Anyway, for us to be insured on the Abarth with Adrian Flux they quoted £3000 per year! :o  We then called Admiral, our current provider, and they said for us both to be on the Abarth (essentially a car change on the Yeti policy) it would be an additional £30.00 -TOTAL! ;D

Shop around peeps!

Introductions / New Abarthers in 8 days time...
« on: June 04, 2016, 04:55:29 PM »
Hi all, my Mrs and I are in our mid-30s (!) and just coming out of needing pushchair space :)

She misses her Mk1 TT and I miss my S2000 of yesteryear, so we decided the timing was now right to seek a fun 2nd car.  We shortlisted the Mini JCW and the Abarth Comp. We had some funny dealer experiences when test driving, the Mini man was all over us with the figures and making a good deal, the Abarth man was very relaxed and we had to chase him haha! Anyway, the JCW wasn't available so we took out the Cooper S.  It was way too busy for me in terms of features on the dash and design -do you need that many lights and buttons??? The delivery of power was very instant and useable, but unless you were going at 10/10ths it just wasn't fun.  The clincher was that my daughter's feet couldn't fit comfortably behind my seat (she's 6) and with me in the passenger seat I was still slightly squashed fwd.

The Abarth was a real Tardis! Stacks of room for all of us :)  And then there was the drive.  It's such an engaging drive with ample performance and a surplus of character. Even at 20 mph in highstreet traffic we were all grinning!  And that's the thing. For us it's not about having the fastest car, it about having the one that makes you smile most.  Unfortunately, for the Mini man, his product just couldn't match the Abarth for what we wanted.

So we then found ourselves at a cross roads. With the imminent arrival of the Series 4, this is either a really bad or really good time to buy a series 3.  At the moment Abarth seem keen to shift Series 3 stock and for the deal we got on a new series 3 in the showroom, I can't even find a second-hand one with 5k on it cheaper!  This helped our decision as my only concern was the depreciation hit with the series 4 arrival. So all told we are hedged to some extent.

So after waiting for some work bits to happen, we were now in a position to go ahead!  Today the "sold" sign went up and we will be collecting on Sunday morning! ;D  Its a Comp with Tri-layer red paint, black leather Sabelts, Interscope Audio and black wheels:

We are really excited to have a fun car back on fleet!  I am looking forward to having a car to obsess over haha!  I look forward to being part of this community and updating on our experiences ;)

Cheers, Paul
