Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Winter Tyres
« on: November 08, 2016, 10:13:31 AM »
Anyone fitting or fitted winter tyres?

I got myself a spare set of 16" alloys, need a refurb  but very cheap (£85, bargain) a while ago and have ordered some Yokohama W drive to be fitted at home.

I'd be interested to know what others are doing.

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / 500c Custom 10k miles in.
« on: October 12, 2016, 08:22:56 PM »
Tomorrow morning my car will trip over in to five figures on the odometer and I thought I'd share a few thoughts on that first 10k.
I bought it in February when it was six months old but with only 44 miles on it. I can honestly say that I still enjoy driving it as much as I did on the first journey back to Kent from the Midlands.
Coming from seven years with a Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge I'm quite happy with the power although a remap is on the cards at some point. It is noisier inside, I don't notice any whistling or booming from the soft top, it's just noisier. Plus side to that is hearing the exhaust note. I noticed during the warmer months the pops and bangs were less noticeable but now it's cooler they seem to be louder.
I've only ever used V-Power and usually get around 35-38mpg on a tank. On a long run at motorway speeds 40+ is easily achievable.
It uses hardly any oil, I've certainly not had to top it up so the beautiful Selenia Abarth can remains unopened. It had the first service a few months ago at Northgate in Canterbury and went back there for a couple of warranty items a couple of weeks later. Nothing major just a cracked fog light surround and the side skirt moulding looked like it was coming away ever so slightly. Both fixed without question and I was loaned a Turismo both times it was in.
I'll be ordering some winter tyres soon, I got some 16" alloys for them to go on. I had winters on my Fiat and when it gets really cold the extra grip is noticeable, when it snows they are in another league. Where I live doesn't get gritted so it makes a big difference in getting out when the white stuff does come.
All in all its been a fairly uneventful ten thousand miles but very enjoyable and I'm so glad I bought an Abarth.

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Mopar Easy Care prepaid servicing
« on: April 19, 2016, 06:29:39 PM »
I'm sure someone you are aware of the Mopar deal of £499 for the first three services but there is now a deal for £699 for five services.
I found the leaflet for it at my local dealer a couple of weeks ago and it's poorly worded so I contacted Abarth customer service to verify what it includes, they got back go me today to confirm that it includes everything as per the service schedule. By my reckoning that should include the timing belt although I'm not at home so I can't check my handbook.
The deal can be bought up until the car is one year old.

Hello all.

The name is Spike, proud owner of a 2015 Abarth 500c. Had it a couple of months now, bought it pre registered with only 44 miles on.
I didn't mean to buy it, honest. I came from a 2009 Fiat 500 which I was wasn't really thinking of replacing until I found myself in a showroom looking at the face lift model, seeing the price of a like for like replacement, around £12.5k if I remember
correctly, then seeing that a new Abarth started at £14.1k got me thinking. Anyway, lots of internet trawling and I found my beautiful 500c in Scorpion Black with tan leather and 17" wheels for a bargain price and less than I could get a Fiat 500c with 600 miles on from a local dealer.
