Wow Mikey44, that is a hell of a project so far!

Have enjoyed reading through and viewing the pics. Keep em coming.

Looking good, I presume from the speed you are going through the tasks, you have plenty of experience in tis sort of thing.

What is your end goal?

Hi All

Hope everybody is keeping safe and sticking to rules etc.

Bumping this thread to say the wheels are still available, winter is approaching so maybe someone out there needs these wheels / tyres.

Cheers

welcome to the forum

"Smiles per mile" the phrase to remember.

Can't offer advice on mods and upgrades, have never done anything to any of our 3 Abarths other than a set of winter wheels (see the for sale section).

Afternoon all

Just popping in as my 16 year old son has bought his first car ... a 500 abarth.

We collected it last night and I have driven it today, stopping at one of his grandparents. Then went to the second grandparents and when we got back in, flat battery... literally nothing apart from a few clicks and the dash coming on

So jump started the car, came home. Parked, tried to re-start and nothing.. so a new battery has been ordered..

After a great start, today hasn’t been the best introduction to Abarth ownership. My son’s smile has turned to a frown...

Hopefully it’s not more worrying than the battery

Welcome to the AOC and Abarth ownership.

Sorry to hear of the disappointment and doubt created by the battery issue, hope that's all it is. I suppose you should remember the car may well have been standing idle for weeks / months on end during this Covid 19 lockdown, I have seen plenty of people with jump leads and charger units in the last few weeks!

Yes they are, Covid 19 stopped me pursuing matters. From your user name, can I presume you are based in the North, we may not be too far away.

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Re: Where to buy basic servicing materials?
« on: June 09, 2020, 10:51:15 AM »
Thanks for both replies, very helpful, having sought to answer my own question I also looked at TMC Motorsport who do a service kit.

I agree about the selinia oil mind you!

I seem to remember reading ages ago that the oil drain plug is an odd size, is this correct? And what is the best solution, find the correct socket or buy a new plug?

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Where to buy basic servicing materials?
« on: June 08, 2020, 04:12:14 PM »
Hi guys

Our XSR has just had its 3rd and final dealer included service and 1st MOT.

All is well, but with the mileage we now do (car is 3 years old and has done 12k miles) only 750 in last 12 months, I reckon next year will not require a full service, merely oil, filter and possibly plugs.

I would still like to use Selinia oil and good quality filter and plugs.

Anybody got any recommendations where to buy online? Any advice on other stuff I might need to do (if capable 0f course).

Cheers

Hi Geoff

I have a trickle charger as well, just hadn't put it on for a while. Have now set up a diary reminder on the phone to charge once a month. Have noticed quite a lot of people in our area having to use jump leads as their cars have been left idle for so long.

As for tyre pressure, is the setting not in the normal menu, you should be able to accept the tyres as they currently are. I get this when I have put the winter wheels on / swapped again for summer. The warning comes on as the winters are 215 not 205's so trips the warning.

Hi all

As cars are sitting stationary for long periods now I thought on to remind all to keep the battery charged and occasionally start the engine.

I deliberately ran down the battery last week believing this conditions the battery better, succeeded in causing an issue or two when I started the engine today.  The warning lights to check the airbags came on but eventually went out, the engine warning light has however remained on. The engine runs fine so I believe it just needs resetting.

Can anybody help here with how to reset this warning?

Cheers and stay safe.

Hi

Am not a mechanic so don't rely on my guesswork!

I had a car some years back with a similar sound, turned out to be a brake wear indicator strip, like a spring clip within the brake pad, when wearing down , it pops out and rubs on the disc.

Don't know why this would be an issue only when cold though.
